92 Pro FM vs. Kiss 108

I've noticed that even in the Providence area, many people like Kiss 108 better. Why do you think people do? And I can actually receive 92 Pro FM up in Natick, MA. But I've noticed that Pro FM has played some of the more obscure artists, such as Cheyenne Kimball, Joss Stone, Katy Rose, etc. Why do you think people like Kiss better than Pro FM if they can get both?
 
Is this for music or can we praise/critique personalities?
 
Maybe because Kiss 108 doesn't play as much rock music? Pro FM sounds like a rock station wannabe with some occasional dance and R&B thrown in. I can't stand PRO FM because of all the rock they play.

While Citadel probably does not want their CHR to cannibalize their rhythmic CHR, Clear Channel has the same situation in Boston but doesn't make Kiss as rock-intensive as PRO-FM.

I'm always amazed Kiss can play more hip hop and urban and still do well considering JAMN is in the same market and part of CCU. Frankly I think both PROFM and KISS rely on heritage. Both have gone downhill over the years. I think PROFM is more well rounded musically though. Staffing wise I just don't like KISS. The morning show is completely out of whack with the format. Matty and Billy Costa don't sound like they should even know who Fergie is. After Matty when I tune into KISS I think I've wandered onto the set of Welcome Back Kotter. I don't know why but there's just something about the whole sound of KISS from the music to the jocks that turns me off. PROFM isn't what it used to be but at their worst they're "there" and I don't think anything they do is a turnoff.
 
I've got to agree with Matty destroying Pro-FM in the morning. Matty is so far ahead in the talent department that it's not even a competition. Pro FM is basically a Morning Zoo. Cookie Cutter "laugh way to hard" at everything type humor. Stuff that's not even funny. Phony Baloney radio. Very preplanned and not genuine at all.

Matty has a REAL personality which comes across very well. He doesn't have to try hard to be funny. He just is naturally Funny. That's the big difference between the two. Maybe your typical teeny Bopper can't tell the difference. However most people with a brain can hear the difference between the two.
 
I don't think the two can even be compared...two separate entities, staff wise and musically. As far as Matty is concerned, who cares that he doesn't know about Fergie...I laugh my ass off to that show and think his show is realistic/everyday humor...he's a naturally funny guy and if he wasn't, he wouldn't still be there after all these years. Why is it we are comparing these two again?

Why is the prevailing thinking that just because someone is out of a certain demographic, they no longer know anything about artists. I'm quite certain that Matty knows very well who Fergie is.
 
Where is my post that was originally between "weee" and "radiojay?" Why was it removed? I did nothing to break your rules. I commented on one station's style of music, because that's what they play. I never made any slanderous or libelous comments about that particular station or Company.

I think PRO-FM's music is right on target. What KISS is superior in is their image work and on-air talent.
