Taking a look at the latest holiday 6+ numbers, it appears that 92 PRO-FM is continuing its slide. Yes, I know they're the holiday numbers and they're only the 6+ numbers, but given the overall trend over the last 5 months, the station is down considerably. Many CHRs around the country have seen their ratings fall over the last several months, likely due to potential listeners in their targeted demos listening more and more to music via streaming services. But PRO-FM also has the added factor of firing their long time co-host Kim Zandy. Currently, among the class B's with transmitters within 10 miles of Providence, they're last, even behind WSNE.

So what strategies might PRO-FM employ to bring up their numbers in 2024?

Also, April 29th marks the 50th anniversary of WPRO-FM/StereoRock92/92 PRO-FM's CHR format. At 3 p.m. on April 29, 1974, WPRO-FM dropped the needle on Paul McCartney & Wings "Jet," and the rest was history. Should we expect any on-air celebration or commemoration? Or will they let let the anniversary pass by without much of a thought? Morning host Giovanni has been with the station for just about as long as it's been CHR It would be interesting to hear some tales from him and others throughout the years.

This is where I'd like to see Huff's analysis, with a distinction between the more rhythmic CHRs and the "mainstream" ones.

I'm of the opinion that any station that targets younger demos should not celebrate anniversaries that make the station sound older than the listeners.

And, unless the station does some kind of anniversary concert or promotion that rewards listeners, why should anyone care about a station anniversary?

It has been posted on the "Rhode Island" board, but thought I'd drop this in here as well -- Giovanni is retiring on the day of the 50th anniversary of WPRO-FM's flip to CHR/Top 40. It would seem that some attention will be made to the station's anniversary along with the celebration of Gio's retirement. Congrats to him!
