92.3 never got out of the 90s.They need some new records. Its 90s at 9AM-9PM.
Krock needs to be more like wkzq 101.7 for it to survive now.

Looks Like An A-Z weekend!!!!
this has never been done!

Actually, it has: Back in 1993, WNEW-FM aired "The History of Rock & Roll From A-Z", which consisted of their entire library - deep cuts and all - in alphabetical order. It took weeks to complete and was an interesting listen.

Also, last year WMMR also briefly did a similar A-Z marathon.

I thought Jamie was being sarcastic. A-to-Z weekends have been done in a ton of places, it's far from new.

I'm fine with K-Rock playing 90s stuff, just not with them shoving the same old overplayed 90s tracks down our throat constantly. Haven't heard the 90s at 9am, but maybe that will be a refreshing break from the norm. Of course, being in central NJ, I can always listen to G-Rock to get my fix of not-so-overplayed 90s tracks.

yes but not in NYC! WPDH, q-106.1 in southern VT have done it that I know of .. Is k-rock actually doing it? or is it like a block of artists?
I hate Northern Vt...

Well, with the music choice, new dumb-azz slogans "You asked for it, you got it" and new voice guy (I think it's the same awful voice they used at 93-3 The Bone in Dallas) it sounds like K-Rock is once again Krap rock. No more new music. Aerosmith, Led Zep and the like with a Nirvana song mixed in now and again. Yawn. I would be surprised if they went back to playing any new alternative on Monday. Didn't we already do this once, right before Free-FM?

In Orlando Florida, there once was a CBS owned alternative station called O-rock. They had a feature called "The 69" This was 60 minutes of 90's music at 9am. It looks like CBS is telling their rock stations to do the same. Must be a corporate thing. A few months later O-rock was yanked off of the airwaves to make room for Sunny 1059 which is a clone of CBS-fm.

I am listening online this morning to hear a bit of the A-Z thing but to them... No offence this new voice guy really does suck! its boring lame radio... they need to keep the radio liners enthusiastic and alive if they want listeners. If its like this yes they will still get listeners but, it is just very damn stale radio.
doesn't even sound like A-Z to me this morning...

Re: 923 k-rock already waving the white flag!

the A-Z list sounds like they are going to reposition themselves active rock, there's going to be no format war...not yet anyway. huge mistake, the active rock listeners is tapped out, advertisers know this and billing is going to be way down. i expect the RXP station to run away with audience and the add dollars.

I'm not a K-Rock person, look at other stations in New York City. You got WRXP, K-Rock and Q-104. In the HV listening area, they got WPDH, WDST, WRRV and WBPM. And yes, WBPM's "Classic Hits 92.9" is playing too much songs that are not hits, they played too much deeper cuts that is not part of the format. Randy Turner is one big stinker of the format, so forget about the other stations the HV doesn't care.

To get back to the K-Rock thing. Now that Tracy is gone, I don't really know what's next for the station? I'm a big fan of country music, but I don't see 92.3 go country anytime soon. Maybe another format like top 40? Not enough! You got WNYZ which is going top 40 as "Pulse 87" and Star & Bucwild will be on the new station starting Monday.

I don't know what's going to happen with WXRK, tune in and find out!

Something to ponder...didn't Jack do the A to Z thing shortly before CBS-FM came back?

I know that 1057 The Hawk at the Jersey Shore wrapped it up a couple weeks ago. I think it took them like 3 full weeks to get through it. It may be an overdone feature but it did sound damn refresing none-the-less. And if memory serves me correctly (which is a rareity as of late) K-Rock and The Hawk both HAD the same voice guy but apparently K-Rock was looking to "shake things up" or with the recent firings a "cheaper bill" on the imaging front. K-Rock needs to decide what it wants to do with itself and stick to it. Maybe a new PD is just what the Dr ordered

Personally I'm drawn to 'RXP. No Chili Peppers or GNR every 15 minutes... repitition is what kills TSL IMO. May work on CHR's and Hot AC's but not on small restricted playlists which K-Rock (prior to the A-Z) was doing.

;)

This is a fight K-Rock will not win. Throw in the towel, play some amusing stunt, and bring out the cowboy hats. Get an energetic, young morning team who can present the country music in a top 40 style and you have a winner. You need not bring back the YNY jocks, it can be fresh and new. It would cost nothing to promote because it would gain news coverage. More than likely a very inexpensive "alternative" that would likely bill well and rank higher than PLJ. The key to this is the female audience. And it would compliment Fresh rather well. Steal a few more listeners from Lite and PLJ and bring them to the CBS cluster. It is a no brainer. Just do it Dan Mason....it can't be any worse than this thing you call "K-Rock".

It might actually do better than K-Rock at this point, though not by much, but I can't see it doing better than even PLJ's mediocre ratings, and especially their billing.

Just wait friends! It's only a matter of time before KRock flips to K92.3 - Today's Best Country and someone realizes Brooklyn/Village hipsters aren't enough to carry RXP and then we'll be back to exactly 0 rock stations.

If KRock really wanted to fight back they wouldn't do it with 90s at 9 they would do it with a deep tracks/underground show at night.

During the "Stunt" period between O-Rock and Sunny. They Ran "The history of Rock and Roll" Program a few times. Hmmmm....

k-rock has the ability to kick some serious ass... the problem is they are not going to take the time to find out what people want to hear. thats just IMHO... I have seen times k-rock kicks some serious ass but its all about lets pretend people only listen 20 minutes from useless research and be repetitive...
I wonder when research might realize people only listen 20 minutes because thats all the can stand of hearing the same stuff over and over again. I hope they might release that they are not the only ones in the market anymore and Play stuff no one else will Pantera, Nonpoint, Static-x old Tool tracks, Rock songs that barely get played ETC Like Lazer 99.3 WLZX, 107.3 WAAF 106.9 WCCC.. then IMHO K-rock could kick some ass!
I really hope k-rock can be here to stay.
