923Now.com - Odd Developments

I don't think the St. Pat's Day thing with O&A is gonna happen. I'm listening right now to E-Rock spilling the beans about how CBS told Guinness they're not doing the broadcast. "...and we're lucky if we make it to Wednesday."

My, my. The speculation abounds!

AnimatronicAbeLincoln asked:

Doesn't CBS generally do their format flips on Fridays?

Not in this case they won't.

LibertyNT mused:

Odd... The CBS people found out our trick.

Yes, and be careful! The CBS "people" are watching us VERY carefully! :)

GSP163 reported:

FWIW Rich Russo host of WRXP's "Anything Anything" hinted tonight that a NY rock station is "bailing out on rock" and flipping to something new this week.....He said he could not say what station was flipping b/c he would get into trouble....

Rick Russo is such a naughty boy!

Of course we all know its WXRK.

Of course! What other station could it possibly be?

disneyfanatic suggested:

I guess there is hope for 92.3 to pull the legendary "K-Rock" off the cliff after O&A come St. Patrick's Day.

To which PyThomasTX replied:

Good thinking! And I stand by my prediction from last week:

They are playing Rihanna's "Please Don't Stop the Music" at the moment. 92.3 Amp Radio.

Unless this an O&A stunt..

Now there's dead air.....

opie just posted this with a pic of the krock logo in tier new offices in nyc http://twitpic.com/1yev7 and also asked said his head is spinning then things will get eerily quiet tommrrow if there not on!!! maybe this is throw all of us off there are the only ones saying anything about it!!!

I guess they can choose "92.3 Now" instead of "AMP Radio", because "AMP Radio" on 97.1 is in LA right now doing really well.

Um, where's the LOGIC? And quantify it...how do we know that Amp Radio is "doing really well" after 17 days on the air?

So is 92.3 stunting? you say they're playing please dont stop the music. Here in Houston when CBS flipped 95.7 from Jazz to CHR 'Hot' they looped a 15 minute dance mix that contained please dont stop the music.

No, it's regular programming right now.

They just stunted for the one Rihanna song at the end of O&A. Leading into the Rihanna song they played an intro to the 'new 92.3 Amp Radio' with clips of "Just Dance", "So What", "My Life Would Suck Without You"

After about half the Rihanna song, O&A came back on the air, signed off, and K-Rock resumed normal format, i.e. AC-DC, Red Hot Chili Peppers etc....

so how many people are going to record the format flip wednesday at 5? im gonna try my best to listen online via radiotime.

The "Now" 92.3 logo looks extremely similar to the Amp 97.1 logo.

Well, they are sister stations.

Now that's an understatement of the century, RXP bailed out on rock fans the day they signed on. This is hardly a good alternative to K-rock, I sure as hell don't want to hear Rod Stewart, and Elton John on my rock station. Rich Russo is like the central park carriage horses, for that matter everyone at RXP is, just strolling through the park with the blinders on just seeing what's ahead and not what's around. What's ahead is a "kitchen sink rocker" circling the drain, "boy lets brag about how we aren't bailing out". Like many of you on this board have suggested, maybe a more modern approach to rock similar to G-Rock, and I agree, but I sure won't be holding my breath for RXP to make that flip, cause I will pass out. As far as K-Rock goes, they are bailing, but for 1019 to say it is like the pot calling the kettle black, I would have loved to see CBS take K-rock back to its 1996 format as NY's rock radio, but that's not happening. Maybe this NOW 92.3 thing may work out, but remember this is CBS, will this be like BLINK? I am probably one of the few that actually enjoyed Blink, it was a different approach to top 40 radio, and I'm always for radio trying new things. Who will be the next station to attempt active rock in NY?

Probably no one. Just my points
