93.1 FM Coosada Is On The Air

From what I've just read on Montgomery TV and Radio, they're doing the oldies thing.

From a big fan to the owners, I'll be rooting for WACV's new home to do very well.

Still love what Bluewater stands for and how they run things.

Thanks for having a big influence on me.

Thanks for the info!

I've been through the area twice this year and both times heard a dead carrier — or so I thought. I was probably just a birdie on my little portable radio but I wasn't sure since it was strong enough to stop my scan… I didn't hear a carrier in another part of the state, though, so it piqued my curiosity.

(If it's a birdie I won't hear it at home near Mobile since WBLX runs very strong HD sidebands.)

I heard it over in Auburn... not very clear, nor very loud :D I didn't hear any ID's or liners, just 60's and 70's oldies (Grassroots, Neil Diamond, Beatles, etc.) I think they may be stunting for the time being. Who knows, they may place this format on 107.9.

However, if this format is kept on one station or the other, how will it affect Q96.1? I know they seemingly target the upper end of the oldies demos along with classic hits, (whereas 93.1 is more of the traditional oldies format) but even so will this water down the ratings for Q?

Plus both this and Q may drive the nails into the coffin at Kool 95.5/ 1250 if the market gets too saturated with similiar formats...

From their Facebook page Wednesday afternoon

"We're turning on 93.1-FM today after 5pm. Remember, the signal will be at half-power for 10 days during "program testing". During this time, we're not allowed to simulcast 107.9, so we're going to play music instead."

To Mr. Tallred,

I look for Kool Classic Hits to soon make a change.

I predicted this station would be an overkill.

So far, I've been proven right.

The addition of Don Day may not help them anyway.

To Mr. Paul and Gower,

I'm rooting for your new presentations to have major success.

I'll check them out, when I'm visiting Montgomery and/or able to drag them in.

Still take up for your fine products and love what they stand for.

I have no complains against you.

Keep up the good work guys.

Your inspiration continues to give me ideas that I want to run with,  should things work out and I'm able to make my own return to radio broadcasting.

Kool 95.7 is all over the format dial in the mornings...especially since they hired a bunch no talent goons who play everything but classic hits.

The sound quality on the new WACV is great.

Been checking them out some today and I can get them very well, here in Selma.

It only 50% power for the initial 10 days. After that, full power. Just keep in mind that fouling the power only increases the coverage by arround 25%.

Watcher, it's a requirement on the CP due to being a, new allocation, a new facility, and a directional antenna. Gives us time to proof the system, run field strength readings and burn in the new equipment. No problem really as the News Talk format will not be available till 9/1.

FACT: The new FM WACV is downgraded from a Class C3 signal to only a directional Class A signal at 93.1. Why all the hype of this frequency change anyway?
