93.1 in Columbus

Marty.... I barely remember WGRU but I was doing radio in Florida at the time so perhaps that's why.
However I have strong memories of WKYK (circa 1970). I can't remember who they were but a friend and I somehow heard their studios were at Tellman Camp and we drove out there, found them and got the nickel tour. I was a senior in high school with radio dreams so you can imagine what that meant to me.
Do you (Chief) remember any of the names of the participants of WKYK.
I know Carl Plaster of WCSI was livid and they did everything they could to shut them down (but they had no power except to report them to the FCC).
Columbus has been a bit of a hotbed for radio pirates, then they made me shut down my 20,000 watt transmitter on 93.1 in 2007 because of this forum.
I really had trouble getting 3 phase electricity into my house... cost a fortune and I only used it for 30 days or so, but hey.. nothing comes easy.
For the record, the last part of my post is a total fabrication.

IIRC Mr. and Mrs. Tellman owned a hog farm on Tellman road. I believe their son was an engineer at Channel 13. I knew their daughter and son-in-law (extremely nice people who later moved to the southeast). I had never heard of either pirate operation though
(like I really care today).

Mr. Tellman would buy the returned doughnuts from SAPS's bakery as feed for his hogs.
