93-1 The Wolf gets new call sign

According to 100000watts.com, 93-1 The Wolf is changing its call sign from WMQX to WPAW. The station is taking the calls from 91.3 in Calhoun, GA.

I notice they also have people on air now in middays and pm drive.

It's official! I just heard the Legal ID... WPAW, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, High Point, Burlington!

409

Wow, hope they don't have to change format. :D I don't think the station will last, so what would they change to next with those calls?

Really they should be WBRF "We BARF" The Wolf has a long way to go man.... TQR is runnin the wolf into the pound!!!

Dog pound my friend... Hollywood.... Movie.... Stars!!!!

Now back to a 50 minute java music sweep HAHAHAH sound sos ggo hun???

;D

Z Man OUT

BTW I know WBRF calls are taken...

wpaw huh...reckon the list of available walf-ish calls was kinda lean. wolves and dogs have a number of things in common, amongst them, paws... and fleas.

;D Ya Think anybody has every tried to slide by the Commisson WSUX? Only problem is if PAW got that, Majic 94.1 would have to fight 'em for it!

Hey Majic...here's your chance! Pick up the WMQX calls!

You know, that's such a stupid idea that they just might do it. Quick, call Tom Collins before this one slips away!

JUst think, they could paint over the 93.1 on the van and use it..Maybe MQX has some left over promo materials ..

WSUX:

A station in Seaford, DE, had those very call letters in the early 80's.

They'd have to talk to the people in Seaford, Delaware. That's where the WSUX calls are right now.

And I thought WBRF (affectionately known as BARF) had the worst call letters! He he he he! :D

What would have been a really cool call sign for The Wolf is WOLF, but unfortunately, that call sign is taken by some station (I can't remember offhand where) simlulcasting on both the AM and FM dials. As for The Rooster (in Raleigh), the call sign that best fits it is also taken--- by another CC "Rooster" in Jacksonville, FL (WROO). (Compare WROO's logo with 106.1 The Rooster's--- this is where Smoketree Court got the idea for the new WRDU logo).

Don't know about an AM/FM simulcast, but the WOLF call letters have been attached to an AM station in Syracuse, NY forever...perhaps as far back as the 1940s.

I remember the days in Raleigh when we wanted to do W-Lite -- but all the good calls were taken. They settled on WYLT - which became "wilt"! Which it eventually did!

Hey Big Ape, seeing you seem to know everything, why don't you apply for a job at Majic 94.1 and show them how it's done. You could be the GM and while you're at it, do the morning show too! Seeing how Bob and Lesley suck, you can show them how a real morning show is done.

Don't know about that..Pretty Far from "Home" and $50,000 ha ha ha ha ha ain't that much for all the aggravation I've seen posted on the topic!
