93.3 gone?

"Clear Channel AC "Soft Rock 93.3" WLZT Columbus OH is stunting with a Top 500 song countdown. We'll have Domain Insight shortly."

I wouldn't see a top 500 countdown on a holiday weekend as neccesarily being a stunt. But if hey are changing it will make the guy who's been complaining about WLZT being a waste of air space happy I guess.

"Clear Channel AC “Soft Rock 93.3” WLZT Ashville/Columbus, OH is stunting with a Top 500 countdown with a new format scheduled to debut following the Labor Day holiday.

Clear Channel registered Oldies933FM.com, which fits the theme of the countdown. Columbus already has three other stations running Classic Hits, however none are as close to the center of the market as 93.3 is. The stations are Saga’s “Rewind 103.5/104.3” WNND Pickerington and WNNP Richwood rimshotting Columbus from the east and northwest respectively, NABCO’s “Classic Hits 103.9” WTDA coming in from the north, and recent move-in “Kool 101.7” WNKO from the northeast."

Oh my word.. People on this board won't know what to do with themselves... if 93.3 goes to a format that 'isn't a waste' of the signal (as most say it is)... of course... the next complaint will be "Clear Channel is wasting the signal by not having a deep enough playlist of Classic Hits" (now that it appears their headed in a Classic Hits direction)

Of course... What will WLZT do at Christmas? I can't see Clear Channel NOT having a "Christmas" station in Columbus .. (They won't want to give up that audience completely to Snoo I mean Sunny 95)

Let's see, do I have this right -- as Matt indicates elsewhere on this board, we are now hearing "the SAME NPR programming on 3 stations at the same time in this market" ... and if 93.3 goes to classic hits, we'll then have 4 stations doing that ... and it's my understanding that we currently have 5 stations that are playing country music ...
Is there any other type of talk or music programming that 6 stations in central Ohio are now going with?

OMG.. Just found out about what's going on and I am speechless (yes I know, that doesn't happen often) -- and apparently dead wrong with my "93.3 will never change" predictions. ;D  No matter which of the various approaches to 60's/70's/80's Oldies/Classic Hits they ultimately lean toward,  I'm sure it will be very competitive on a big signal like 93.3, and will fill a big void here.  Really nice to finally see a (likely) change at 93.3.  :D

Personally I would like to see WLZT go to some HOT AC type format... but that won't happen with WNCI... :)

What are the chances of it being WTVN-FM?

I don't see the point. WTVN is getting killer ratings on AM and is doing fine in billing. Why not flip it to a format that has the potential of winning. If you put Urban on 933, it will hurt the already wounded WCKX. If you put Hot AC, it'll hurt everything at Saga and work as a flanker for NCI. If you put oldies, sure it's a good signal, but you're competing with everything else in the market. Florentino is a smart guy and he has experience and great talent in that building. I know a lot of CC stations have been flipping to Premium Choice Urban... I'd settle for that, but I bet Tony would do it right if he did it and really hurt WCKX.

Over the last couple of years, a least a few of us have been saying WTVN will be simulcasting on the FM band in the near future. Is it about time and is 93.3 the right frequency choice?

Last but not least, dose CC Columbus no longer need a Flanker for Sunny FM? Some posters have said 93.3 has been been a Flanker since it sighed on the air about nine years ago.

May be I'm thinking too big here but...
93.3 goes to classic hits.
Then, 105.7 the brew's keg is tapped and makes room for WTVNFM
