I don't see the point. WTVN is getting killer ratings on AM and is doing fine in billing. Why not flip it to a format that has the potential of winning. If you put Urban on 933, it will hurt the already wounded WCKX. If you put Hot AC, it'll hurt everything at Saga and work as a flanker for NCI. If you put oldies, sure it's a good signal, but you're competing with everything else in the market. Florentino is a smart guy and he has experience and great talent in that building. I know a lot of CC stations have been flipping to Premium Choice Urban... I'd settle for that, but I bet Tony would do it right if he did it and really hurt WCKX.

If they do go Oldies, it'll probably be similar to BIG 106.5 here in Dayton. It's 24/7 PC Classic Hits. "Oldies 93.3" sounds like a generic name to me.
Kent is excellent, but one if his weekend shows is already on WSNY. BTW, the morning man for Kent's new 24/7 syndication is Bill Shannon, who used to do afternoons and then mornings at Saga's old Big Hits here. I always thought Shannon was darn good, but of course he was saddled with subpar signals here.rubberchicken said:I'd bet on Tom Kent's show from 7 PM-Midnight. Syndicated, but there is no denying that he is one of the best in the business and always a fun listen. PC on the weekends.

Did CC ever do a throw-em-off-track url in Columbus? Sounds kind of familiar (and even fairly recent), but at the moment I can't recall any specific examples. Or maybe it was a different local operator?

Nathan Obral said:The handle "Oldies 93.3" throws up a red flag right off the bat. Since 2003, there has been an industry-wide de-emphasis of "Oldies" from the format, and the format was re-dubbed "classic hits" when it evolved to 60s/70s music. Clear Channel led the way, along with CBS and other broadcast groups large and small.
So WHY would a Clear Channel station - in 2011 - start using the obsolete "Oldies" name as their new positioner? It doesn't make sense.
Oh, wait... we're talking about Clear Channel Columbus... :![]()
