93.3 KGSR

As a born and raised Columbusite, now living in Austin since 2008, KGSR is the best radio station I've ever heard. If the WHIZ people want a format that could really make a difference in C-Bus on 102.5, they should check out KGSR... And so should y'all. www.kgsr.com

Way too forward thinking for Columbus. That, and it doesn't duplicate any current stations, which seems to be a requirement here.

Agreed.

Also, I highly doubt "the WHIZ people want a format that could really make a difference in C-Bus on 102.5." They don't care about that, they just want to sell the station.

BTW, I've been tuning in 102.5 from different parts of the area lately just to see how it sounds, and its signal isn't quite as robust as I had thought, though still a lot better than most of the other rimshots.

I was the PD at KGSR way back when before they changed to Triple A. At that time is was an innovative smooth jazz station. It's very specific to Austin and even though it's very cool station, it wouldn't stand a chance here. C-Bus does not have the same environment, music scene, culture or whatever else you want to name. Austin is one of the great cities in the country and KGSR matches up with the area.

True, but it would be interesting to see exactly what kind of ratings a great unique mix like that would produce here, on a big signal and with deft execution and marketing. I.e., prove and *quantify* "wouldn't stand a chance." Not that anyone's about to try...

I agree Nu! Even half of what KGSR brings to the table would be better than most of what we have here. I would welcome a Triple A to this market with open ears but I've been waiting for a long time and don't expect my wait to be shortened anytime soon. WCBE has always worked the position but they, like a lot of the stations, just don't have what it takes to make the format unique.
