93.3 The Beat Coming

It looks like 93.3 is becoming home WJBT as it seems to be posted on Radio-Insight.....so what become of the 92.7 signal after Christmas? I want to say Oldies or something else...but not country....

92.7 will eventually take up Hastings, FL as their city of license and probably compete in the St. Augustine market once that change is made.

I'm sorry but what is the logic of moving a signal from a larger area to a smaller one, and why would the Commission accept that move??

Why does the FCC allow any station to move?

To improve local radio service to an area that meets their criteria for "underserved", as defined by the FCC.

Doesn't matter if the programming will EVER be about Hastings (and therefore southern St. Johns county) - just that not enough local signals get to that area.

Obviously Jacksonville can afford the loss of a signal.

Its a smart move on CC's part, preventing a future owner from coming back to compete with them on their old frequency - even if it greatly diminishes the value of the stick (which it does, big time!).

Moving to a small town from a metro may make sense to Washington bureaucrats, as they only see the technical plans and demographic data - the content of what is actually on those stations never really becomes an issue (unless you consider the quarterly issues/programs reports of any value).

Most stations pay nominal lip service to their city of license - they really serve the wider market.

How is St. Augustine its own market? What's their ranking & when does their arbitorn come out? I'm not aware of this.....

Aaaaah!!! So THAT's it!!

Problem I don't think CC looked into is, I think this might allow the 92.5 in Folkston to upgrade or move further south and become a more viable Jax competitor....You get rid of one, but another one pops up...Kinda like the gopher game at the carnival.

Did you ever thing that some info is put out just to distract people and make them thing something else. Too easy
