93.3 THE BONE

You are really observant. She has been gone for a couple of weeks.

I will back up Charles 123 on this, as I thought this had happened awhile back, but the news was 'officially' reported on AllAcccess today.

Yep, Sexxton and Channing are not pleased. The reason< heard from those in the building> The new PD is taking the station to "mainstream America" .Translated : a more conservative approach to rock. Sexxton and Channing gave the image of being on the "fringe elements" see their Myspace blogs to fully understand. I am not defending the PD, allow me clarify to that. The Bone is after KZPS once more..big shock. Personal image of on air staff must reflect the "red state" mentality..no long hair on males, etc, piercings, sexual content of any kind, etc. In short no wild stuff of any kind on and off air( meaning myspace blogs or any blogs).

Debbie and Channing are talented,BUT as things are it will be a long time ,if that should another gig come their way in this market. That is a damn shame. Welcome to Cume-less, where blurred vision and pointed mentality is a good thing.

well....it seems the phone-sex operater delivery hasn't worked much for the Bone these last couple years. You can't build an entire station around a dick joke

Hey Guys
A friend of mine told me about this board and I just want to say.. I've never written any Blogs being negative about me leaving the New Bone. It's a corporate take over and they want a new line up. Radio is radio.. regardless of what anyone thinks of the station. I enjoyed working with all the old dj's and old PD.

As far as dick jokes..hahahah radio is theater of the mind. If any of you are radio djs you know your on air personality molds to what the stations wants.

If they're talented, why should it be so long before they get another job? Or is it because their talent (breathing heavy and making double entendres) only works on certain stations?

So are they really talented, or are they just talented enough to get a job at the old bone?
The way I see it real talents can do just about any format. Didn't Labella go from rock to MOR? Haven't a bunch of the old Zoo jocks ended up in other formats? Didn't Alex Valentine go from the Edge to Merge to CHR? If they're talented, I'd think another station would grab them first chance they have...

Theater of the mind = opening a Saturday morning break by referring to oneself as "your Double D cup of coffee"....

nah..I'm not seeing it. The women I know in radio have worked very hard to be taken seriously. It does not help matters when "other" women who do not know the music they play, resort to sex talk to keep men listening. And Debbie, Judas Priest "You Got Another Thing Coming" is "not" a B side.(Same Saturday morning break). The song is from the Screaming for Vengeance album. It was released as a single in August 1982. This information is readily available for anyone who takes the time to look for it on the internet(for those who are not "real" fans of the band from back in the day.)

Jocks(male or female) should be extremely knowledgable about the music they play. Here is a little secret for you...guys find a woman with musical knowledge VERY sexy. Try that when you get that next gig.

Lastly, before anyone slams me for being too "harsh"...radio is Debbie's chosen profession. It is her job to know the music she plays. Learning a format is easy to do if you take the time to study it.

If they're talented, they will get another job, but if they want another job in DFW or another major market, they will have to be patient (or lucky) while another job opens

In this day of voice tracking, and a lower population of rock-esque stations, there's not a ton of decent jobs available...even for talented folks.

Your not being harsh, its your opinion, I respect that. And yes I know my music. I've been doing this for 13yrs never been let go until now. I do national and international voice work and yes I do voice track for other stations in the US and one in Europe from my home studio, I've been doing that since I moved back from Europe. With that being said, non of those are in the same format, good dj's know how to mold themselves to the station. And I agree a DJ should be very knowledgable of the music they play and I am. We (DJ's) know not everyone is going to like the station we work for ot how we sound or our personality.. no one in radio should ever take that personally!!hee hee ... you know that comes with the territory! It's all good! I wish everyone the best of luck who persue's a career in radio!!
Debbie

Yo Debbie, "you want fries with that Sexy Bitch?!" (in my breathiest (sp), sluttiest tone, oh wait, that's my NORMAL voice, isn't it?) ;)

On a serious note, I really want MD stripes at an active/alternative station, therefor, I haven't even TRIED to get an on air gig in Dallas and the only stations I have applied for have been ROCK stations. Don't get me wrong, of course I'd stay in Dallas if I could, Dallas is my home.

What a way to wake up! I've been called a talentless, dirty old hair pulling wh%^& the past couple of days, Dang! ::)

Yes, but at least you have knowledge and passion for the music. :p

Seriously, your on air delivery was not of the phone sex quality mentioned earlier by someone else. You were always about the music and I respect that.

Thank you, will you give me a job? (j/k) In Debbie's defense, we all make mistakes whether it be with the music or with what we say. If I remember correctly, the song in question was listed on the playlist/selector as a "Bone B Side". Maybe it was a B-side of a greatest hits or something, hell I was never a Priest fan so I dunno. (FOR SHAME I admitted THAT!?) ;) I recall a break I did one night and I said "coming up, music from so and so, and Dream Evil" After I shut off the mic, I thought, WTF, who is "Dream Evil?" Of course, the playlist SHOULD have read Artist "Dio" song "Dream Evil" Album "Dream Evil". Another example, after Entwistle passed away, his name kept coming out of my mouth as EnwhistleR. Ayo has never let me live that down! ;) I can't speak for Debbie but I did sometime really on what the playlist said for one reason or another and sometimes, It bit me on the ass. :)

I'd HOPE that they were ready to give up the format they were on. As for ME, personally, I wanna be in a ROCK format as long as I can. Age isn't kind to Women in this business OR in life. With that being said, I hear conflicting Shizznit. "A good jock can do ANY format" (I agree) but doesn't that apply to a good PD as well? Shouldn't a PD know good talent, regardless of what their aircheck sounds like? I'm sooooooooooo confused! As a side note, Cindy Scull sat out for close to a year and a half (I think) If Scull sits out for THAT long, why the hell would myself or Sexxton get offered anything asap? And WHY would Sexxton or myself be offered something IN Dallas when there are vets in the market without jobs? It very well could be a VERY long time before I have a job in Dallas, Sexxton on the other hand, who knows? You will hear her before ya hear me! Her "phone sex operator" voice and all. :)

(I got your back Sexxton, and a SEXY back it be!) xoxo :)

I believe a real talent can do any format, but I think a jock is happiest and doing their best work when they are working in a format they are passionate about. As far as Channing and Sexxton getting another gig in Dallas, I believe the prevailing issue is painting oneself into a box. When you portray yourself as a hardcore rocker chick or sexpot, it is difficult for the audience to move away from that perception. I think that is why Scull did not work elsewhere for over a year. She sounds like a rock chick. That image does not go over on CHR,AC etc. Also, more than Scull's sound, was her name. Scull=Rock in Dallas. That is both a blessing and a curse. Luckily for Scull, an opportunity once again presented itself and she is once again kicking ass and taking names(13th to 3rd in one book is phenomenal.)

Woooohooo! Go Cindy! She's my idol, listened to her for YEARS and always said "I am soooo gonna try to do that once my kids get older". Fortuantely I had my first gig right here at home. :) And you're right, It's highly unlikely KISS-FM will be calling ME anytime soon to do afternoon drive. LOL :)
