All of us have missed Sheila's voice and personality for most of the summer as she has continued her fight against cancer for the fourth time. Earlier this month, Sheila was admitted as a hospice patient. This enables doctors to manage her pain and make her more comfortable.

Jimmy requests your prayers for Sheila as her condition is worsening. Please join our staff in praying not only for Sheila; but for her family and especially Jimmy.

Join the conversation and share your favorite Sheila "memory stories" on the J93.3 Facebook Page. We'd love to hear from you!

================
For many years while in country radio Sheila used the name Kelli and I believe that included a stint at Kicks. Sheila and Jerry did morning radio for a stint for a stint in Kentucky, Before coming to 93.3 the first time she cohosted a popular country morning show in Shreveport .

It is my understanding that Sheila may be in her final days and all of us who have been so deeply blessed to have her in our lives are praying for a miracle, but also preparing for her transition to that afterlife that she's always believed so deeply in. Sheila Richards is the real thing. Genuine, caring, loving, selfless, giving. Anyone who has spent time around her will tell you that. Her favorite sign-off and her most notable quote has always been "Let your light shine" and hers has shined the brightest. She has touched everyone she's come in contact with. She's the closest thing to a walking saint that I know of. The world is richer and better because of her and the world will be noticeably emptier when she passes on.

First....that is sad news about Sheila. There was never a more sweet, kind person! I had the privilege of working with her on her first tour of duty at J93 (along with X-14.) She's the best kind of person there is.....she's an encourager.....she brightens a cloudy day. Thanks for passing the news along......
Second.....regarding Brent's hospice comment......exactly what do you think sounds "terminally ill" about J93's programming? The signal sux....I'll give you that. But I think it has always been one of the better sounding stations in Atlanta - it sounded major market even when it was in Manchester(not that Atlanta radio is anything to brag about.) Considering the station had limited resources and a very limited signal I think they have put up the good fight. If signals were equal I wonder if The Fish would have won.....or even survived.

Out of respect for Sheila and all she's accomplished, and all whom she's touched, how about if we don't let this thread digress into an analysis of J93? J93 has been blessed by her presence and will deeply, deeply feel her loss if that time comes.

I think that it is a major signal fup....I mean it is no where in town, especially where I live in between the Richland site and Briarcliff. I do remember WFDR, and I have said that many times on this board. About 1978 or so, it had an amazing soul format, and the signal was amazing. I lived in the Henderson High School area, and listened to it like it was a local. It is a total mess right now, I wish they would go to doo wop, 60's, 70's type soul again, kind of like Lake 102's old format with a bit of Sunny 100 thrown in and make the signal better northward. I meant absolutely no disrespect to the woman, I am deeply sorry if it came across like that. God forbid that happens to us one day. Why have they downgraded their signal so much over the last 30 or so years????

Atlanta lost one of it's most authentic and beloved people this morning when Sheila Richards went to be with God at 6:20 a.m. Literally thousands of lives were changed and touched by Sheila's real and sincere love and deep and passionate faith, and she will be deeply missed by all. Please remember her family in your thoughts and prayers.

Good news......the long suffering is over.
We'll miss you, Sheila.....we hardly knew ye!!

Sincere condolences to Sheila's family, friends, and former co-workers.

It was an honor to know and get to work with Sheila Richards. She was an incredible talent, tireless worker, and truly genuine on air and off. She did radio right. Her listeners in Country and Christian radio felt like they knew her...because they did. They felt like she was their friend...because she was.

I only got to meet Sheila a couple of times... once at a Newnan-Coweta Chamber business expo... and one other time in passing at another event. She was out of work at the time and we would have loved to have her on our staff if the budget had allowed for any hiring at the time. Class act all the way.
