93.5 and 93.7 KXSM and KXZM

I notice there are 2 CP's for KXSM and KXZM. KXSM 93.5 Hollister is moving to 93.1 to provide coverage for Monterrey Bay area and KXZM 93.7 Felton is upgrading their signal to Loma Pierreta(sp.) Peak to cover San Jose and Silicon Valley. Does anybody knows when the switch will take place?

It looks like the proposed site for 93.7 isn't Loma Prieta, but somewhere farther to the Northwest on Montebello Ridge. It would almost have to be, since from my experience Loma Prieta doesn't cover their City of License very well. I don't know that area too well, but looking at it on the Google Satellite view there's a tower there already, and it looks like that site doesn't have the problem Loma does covering Los Gatos and Saratoga. Should be a decent South Bay signal - even with 420 watts. I saw the 93.1 CP a while back - Lazer jumped on it shortly after KOSO did their downgrade. Smart move.

I wonder if a format change is in order. Right now it's mostly rancheras, which might not really fit the San Jose market.

KXSM will be hard pressed to cover any of the Monterrey Bay region with their CP, the terrain just wont allow it.

Have KXZM 93.7 increase their signal coverage to South Bay yet?
It seems like they started now, I can already hear 93.7 where I am at in Castro Valley

I think they move to Mt. Loma Pierta since I can hear them in the Embarcadero/Financial District in San Francisco. I guess SF radio is getting more crowded.

I wen to Santa Cruz yesterday, and KXSM is still at 93.5? I thought they change their frequency to 93.1 instead of 93.5?

If I'm not mistaken, 93.1 will be in Salinas, and 93.5 in Hollister. Funny thing, the 93.5 is heard somewhat better in the Santa Cruz area then 93. 1.

As for now, the 93.1 is down, and not transmitting. (Don’t know why, bad transmitter?)

What I don’t understand is, if the same company owns the 93.7, 93.5 and now the 93.1, then why the different formats between the 93.5 and 93.7? In the Santa Cruz area, they both put up a good fight being so close to one another. What adds to this is that 93.9 (somewhere in the Salinas area), steps all over the 93.7 frequency, (if you’re driving up the coast to Monterey). In other words, they are all squished together and that takes away from their coverage and listening audience, (Not that I understand what is said anyway)
