93.5 Crockett back on the air

The former KBHT, which left the air in June of last year, is now back as KBPC. The FCC still has it listed as licensed and silent and there's no indication that a notification has been filed showing resumption of operations. It's worth mentioning, however, that their license was set to expire in June had they not returned to the air by then.

Oh, and the previous classic rock format is gone, replaced by country. So the little town of Crockett has two FM stations, both with the same format. Country stations from Palestine and Lufkin/Nacogdoches make it into Crockett also, so good luck with that.
 
Why not an oldies station or something? Not everyone's a country fan. I like it, but...

That makes three 93.5 country stations in Texas I know of... KGWT, KOOK, and now this one. That should be the national country frequency. :p

KBPC?? Did they change last two calls to PC for "poticially correct" considering why they were forced off the air in the first place? KBHT was country long before it was classic rock anyway, so they have in effect returned to the stations roots...at least for a couple of hours.
 
Alright, they're back on the air. They notified the Commission a few days ago about their resumption of operations. So far as the programming goes, it's not bad but like I said they face a lot of competition with nearby country stations. The classic rock was much better, in my opinion, and it was live and local.

About those call letters, their imaging says "Pine County 93.5." I actually have heard a few commercials, too, but one in particular (for a trip giveaway) seems very much like one of those trade out things and it plays fairly often.
 
Well congrats to them for getting 93.5 back on the air. Speaking of back on the air, I see a return of KHMR-Lovelady to the "on the air" status. Did it return to satellite fed classic rock from ABC? It's been off the air for AWHILE now. Need to make a trip up to Huntsville and check it out for myself.
 
Haven't heard KHMR recently, and there's no website to be found. In their "resumption of operations" notification they state that it went silent 04/30/2012 and returned to the air 04/07/2013. Supposedly they got it back on just short of a year later, but in their renewal application filed at the end of March they checked "yes" to this statement: "Licensee certifies that, during the preceding license term, the station has not been silent (or operating for less than its prescribed minimum operating hours) for any period of more than 30 days."

For the record KHMR filed notifications of suspension of operations four times during their current license term, starting in 2009 and ending in 2012. Pardon me, but I suspect the FCC will do the usual rubber stamp renewal for KHMR, no questions asked. On the other hand, KBPC's renewal application appears to be forthright and complete.
 
KHMR has been silent and for sale for quite a while. It is on a list of stations being offered by a couple of brokers. i don't know if the economy in that area can support it since KIVY is there plus the "new" KBPC.

It may never be very profitable considering its location, but KHMR could do well with the right format from Lovelady, considering it had a pretty good signal up and down 45 from between Willis and Huntsville, up to just north of Centerville.
