93.5 in Lenoir City Tennessee

So tell me, whats the format these days on the old WLIL FM 93.5 in Lenoir City? is it still Spanish? is the studio still located in Maryville? Do they have jocks on board or is it satellite? Who owns the station these days???? Fill me in!!!!

Cantrell still owns the FM. The Fm is still spanish but I think the studio's are in L.C. now. The AM station got sold about 6 months ago to the people that own a christian station in Knoxville. It is still Classic Country right now.

So did the AM move to somewhere in Knoxville? Is Glenn McNish still the BIG CHEESE in charge of everything? Is AM 730 satellite or live now?

The AM isn't satellite but after the morning show/trading post it is mostly a jukebox ran from a PC, I think they are useing Scott Systems. You still hear Glenn's voice on 90% of the commercials.

The FCC hasn't posted anything about the sale being cancelled. But you know how slow they are.

The sale of WLIL is not likely to be approved. There were some very shady and illegal aspects of that deal that may or not see the light of day. Look for a new, cleaner sale of WLIL in 2007.

I visited the AM studio a year or so ago. They were running automation off a PC but not a Scott System. Apparently they had some old Scott stuff lying around but weren't using it because they liked the PC software better. I agree it sounds like a jukebox, but I would hate to see that format go away.

It has been a while since I have been to the station. I worked there in 1980 and we were using Civil War surplus equipment at the time. Since Authur Wilkerson passed away and Dwight sold it I haven't had a chance to visit with Glenn lately. I have seen a few pictures of the remodeled downstairs area and it looked pretty good for a small town station. It sounds like they have a bit more business now than in the past but I noticed the proposed sale price was $500K which is a bit steep unless business is really good.

Hey SuperQ, how is your station in Madisonville doing?
