93-7 Jack FM: Coming Soon!

93.7 could, by far, be Jacked, and it is musically worse than 98 Rock or KWOD. 98 Rock+KWOD=Howard 93-7. KWOD does play all current-based alternative tunes without the hard edge (similar to KNDD Seattle, KNRK Portland or KRBZ Kansas City). 98 Rock is active rock, KWOD is alternative with a AAA lean.

Of all the Infinity properties in Sacramento, it seems the most likely to be "Jacked." It's overall 12+ showings are near the bottom. Infinity has "Jacked" stations in NYC, LA and Chicago (with better overall ratings than Howard). Combine that with the well-hyped departure of their morning host, and you have a recipe for "Jack FM 93.7." I think most folks who post here know this, and would be willing to risk a small fortune on it.

I'll throw $5 in the pot on that bet.
______________

NOT GONNA HAPPEN!

Is that your opinion, or is this another "if I shout it loud enough, everyone will think I have an inside connection" post?
______________

Bring it on Brad! :) Let's hear what you think the future holds for Howard 93.7?
______________

If Infinity waits until after Stern's departure, a wannabe could well beat them to the punch, as Entercom did with "Charlie" in Portland, or Bonneville's "Max" in SF.

Good point, but highly unlikely: Entercom's FM's are all doing consistently well; Entravision has too much invested in their niche Spanish formats, plus a huge marketing campaign for KBMB "The Bomb"; and Clear Channel hasn't dipped their toes in the "Jack"-water very much (if at all).

Let Brad be. It's not often someone graces our presence with the knowledge and insight afforded only by someone with his years of experience...as a LISTENER (not to mention the 19 minutes he actually spent in the business).

Come on, Marconi -- tell us how it gonna be!

Yes, and just think how they'll be kicking themselves when the format washes out in a year.

I don't see Entercom getting into the "Variety Hits" format either. Their ratings for their FM stations are pretty good. I could conceivably see Infinity flipping KZZO (with its moribund ratings) to "Jack" and taking KHWD (with its horrible ratings) to something else altogether, perhaps a Triple A format (yes, I know The Point (100.5) did it 10 years ago) or even Classic/Current Country (yes they tried that at 93.7 and 92.1 too). I don't see 93.7 going Spanish at this point, unless Infinity sells the station to Bustos or Entravision.

But, most likely I still see 93.7 getting "Jacked" before Thanksgiving.
