93.7 KKRW signal coverage to the north

Recently a friend of mine moved from the Heights area of Houston to the Spring area near Kuykendahl and 2920. I notice that everytime I drive up there in that area, 93.7's signal briefly drops out and at times gets covered up by another station. (I think it's KLBJ out of Austin).
I am pretty sure that KKRW is still transmitting from the Missouri City farm. If they indeed are, then it's the weakest.

They are in Missouri City. But, as I recall, they have a somewhat directional antenna. Combined with the effects of the metropolitan landscape, that may be part of the problem.

They are directional

I can get them OK at lavaca county, but sometimes KLBJ does bleed over.

That's not too surprising. I've noticed KLBJ slamming KKRW quite often on the way to Victoria.

Just how directional KKRW is can be seen here: http://transition.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/p...&p330=0.700&p340=0.760&p350=0.720&p360=0.715&

I know, incredibly LONG URL, but you get the point. The signal is obviously suppressed toward Austin. Note how the limit of the northern coverage is "squashed," so to speak, on the the 60dBu ("service") contour for KKRW: http://maps.google.com/?q=http://tr...RW&freq=93.7&contour=60&city=HOUSTON&state=TX

For comparison, here's KKBQ's contour: http://maps.google.com/?q=http://tr...M&freq=92.9&contour=60&city=PASADENA&state=TX

KLBJ-FM (with the original KTBC-FM calls) was first on the frequency and a "grandfathered short-space" situation began when 93.7 signed on in Houston. Since both were on the air prior to the adoption of spacing rules in 1964, over the years any changes in power, antenna height and location for the Houston station had to consider this short-space.

On my main outdoor FM antenna, I got it pointed towards Victoria, it can pull in KLBJ instead of KKRW and RDS, My other antenna thats more towards Houston can pull in KKRW most of the time. The strange thing is my other indoor radio on the other side of the house can pull in KLBJ.
