I read about this in the Trib and think is an awesome idea! KDKA AM should do this as well. Their current weekend hosts like Johnna Pro, Mike Romigh, Ellen Gamble, and hell I even heard former DVE DJ Ed Crowe on there, are all bores.
Give someone a shot at stimulating talk! I understand that a sports show is easier to run for an amateur than a regular talk program, but what would it really hurt? I'd step behind the mic for minimum wage just for fun. Im sure many would. Something like this would be great for someone trying to get their foot in the door who doesn't have the cash to blow on broadcasting school and has no experience. It seems to me that some people just have the personality and some don't. no schooling can teach that. All it takes is a good personality with good topics and touching some hot buttons, at least in my mind. Who knows how I'd do? But anyway, the dying radio industry needs some ideas to find good, cheap talent and this is a smart one by CBS radio.
