I'm not sure if I should laugh or cry that you went through the trouble of searching this. I'll go with laugh. Well played sir, well played.

PS, I see NO mention of this "big cash contest" anywhere on the Wave website.

93.7 THE WAVE Ellsworth and Downeast Maines REAL Local radio station 93.7 THE WAVE

Congrats, you've just proven your more local than the other guys, that's not 93.7's problem.

It's the music.

It makes people fall asleep.

They had something going with the "Greatest Hits Downeast" AC format, it was a nice local uptempo Adult Contemporary format that people could listen to at work, in the car or just around the house. Now with as soft as they are, it would make someone drive off the road, and it's too light to be an "at work station". The move to the lighter side looked even worse when 92.9 dumped the same format as you were 3 months previous. 93.7 could have the at work AC crowd now, but the oldies station sounds more uptempo than they do.

It just seems like 93.7 is being consulted very badly. From the shift to soft AC just a few months after launch, to not having a morning guy LIVE in studio (I know, I know it's about as live as live can be these days, but it could be done much better) to running Delilah segments rather than the live show (It's Delilah, they're not going to break your usual format as much as you think). It seems like more work is going in to the station than it should be, but I'll give them credit for having a go at it locally.

Oh and Joe, it's time to move on from whatever happened at WNSX. Yes, you're both the "local" station to downeast, but you're 2 different formats and this isn't Boston in the 80's when it was WZOU vs. Kiss 108. 93.7 has their audience, and 97.7 has theirs. Keep doing your thing and move on from 97.7. We all like being competitive, but it can be a bit much at times.

Mainedude, I think you hit it right. I was not a big supporter when they changed formats. But from time to time (like every couple of months), I'll tune in. And I go away again. This format is just not for me. Now with "Greatest Hits Downeast", it was my #1 preset.

And as far as live and local go, there is truly only one station in the Bangor market that can really claim that moniker and that is WKIT.
