93.7 translator

KIVA FM translator on 93.7 has been off the air for several days. I also noticed the station website and facebook page now only show abq.fm app and AM 1600 frequency on the emblem. Wonder what's up.

It could possibly become the FM signal for that new AM station on 1100 which might only be built for that purpose. Of course the application is still yet to be approved and no call-letters have been assigned yet. Then it would depend on how soon they could get it running. It will probably be off the air mostly after that as many of the AM signals that have translators are currently off the air including 1510, 1240, 1150, 840 and 730 or 700 where there is a CP. KKNS 1310 is back on the air simulcasting KTNN Window Rock playing mostly old country songs. Also the KDSK translator on 92.9 has just been granted a CP to upgrade to a non-directional 250 watt signal: K225CH-FM Radio Station Coverage Map (radio-locator.com)

Other possibilities could be Telebeeper has another broadcast deal lined up or a sale of the translator could be coming. Guess we'll see what happens in the coming weeks.

Have to think back to last Thanksgiving weekend when the FM transmitter building on the Crest was broken into. Apparently only 93.7 equipment was vandalized putting that FM signal off the air then for a time. If negotiations are going on with other ABQ AM stations looking to pick up a FM translator, I think there's only 920 Life Talk Radio which puts out a good signal day and night here in NW sector and already has a translator near Los Lunas, 1000 and 1190 the Wilkins Radio stations and 1450 Entravision's Ranchera outlet that's been broadcasting limited hours with a weaker signal lately. Perhaps there's negotiating with Don Davis who has an application to move the 1120 big boy (at least daytime) CP to 1100 with 800 watts daytime only. I think regs allow the translator to operate full time even if the "primary" AM signal is daytime only and 93.7 puts out a good signal over the metro.
