Looks like Boneville's Sound has forced changes at the HD-2 AAAs, both 93.9 and 98.7 HD-2s are off the air.

Wonder what Emmis and CC will throw on there, I say CC should do Active Rock on 98.7 HD-2 and mabye Emmis can pick up the UAC stuff for HD-2.

Not many. I don't even care to have an HD radio. I'm much happier with the product that XM presents. I have 1 non-radio friend who has an HD radio in a new BMW. He did not know what was or how to operate HD-2 until I showed him.

The annual Edison Media Research and Arbitron survey shows HD awareness down from 26% to 24% (see Inside Radio today). 41% don't care about purchasing an HD radio.
HD was DOA and won't ever become anything. Portable internet streaming devices will become the norm well before it even becomes standard in vehicles.

I'd ask the same question about the Sound myself, and History supports me on that. :D

In all seriousness, I own a HD Radio myself, but I do agree even two years after the technology was "supposed" to go mainstream it's been kinda a dud. Of course I only paid $99 bucks for the Accurian, so it's not like I really got screwed or anything.

The problem is groups not investing in their main stations first and formost or doing something that doesn't favor the listener, but self serves a ageneda and last but not least overpaying for assests(hello Citadel and Radio One). Invest in programming and talent and then we can talk about a HD-2/HD-3/HD-4.

I bought an Accurian a couple of years ago and took it right back to the store. My main problem was living in a poor signal area. I could get several standard FM frequencies but no HD. Apparantly, HD Radio is like HDTV in that respect. You have to be in a better than normal reception area to get it. Then you have to offer something that more than a few peole want to listen to. Remember that HD radio is eventually going to go commercial. That will require a measurable audience, something that does not exist now.
