93.9 WIGL back on the air

Scanning the dial yesterday in Columbia, 93.9 WIGL is back on the air simulcasting WGFG Bad Dog 105.1 I imagine this is temporary. Thoughts?
 
A renewed request to stay silent was filed with the FCC and granted 6-22-09. It expires on 7-19-09. It might have been on just to keep the license. (1x a year is good enough, so long as it is before the license expires).
 
It must ahve jsut been on long enough to show the FCC before it had to give up its license because I have not been able to pick it up at all today and I live in West Columbia where its signal was pretty strong.
 
It's definitely on the air from a Northern Richland/Fairfeild County site. Signal was nonexistent in West Columbia just over the rover near the zoo, but full stereo as you got closer to Northeast. It is running a simulcast of WGFG. It appears to be a WAN feed, because it sounded like packets were being dropped in the digital audio.

I'm getting a good signal here in West Columbia near state street. I can pick it up perfectly on my home radio as well here in town. I didnt notice a signal change though. I wonder what Miller plans for this station.
 
Plans for any radio station are subject to change at a moments notice right now with the way things are going in the broadcast industry. I don't think it matters whether it's a big company station or a small town station right now the problems caused by the economy keep both jobs and future plans in jeporady, answer it's hard to tell.

I was driving around last night in my car that has a half-deaf Kenwood in it. Terrible radio, but great for picking out where a signal is weak. Because the reception was good in the North part of downtown and got better I as I headed back to Northeast, I was assuming that the new WIGL site was up and running. The coverage area is not as good as the published predicted, all I can assume is that program tests are underway.

I just spoke with Dave Baker (PD) today, and the old transmitter is still up and running. The Winnsboro site is still under construction. No idea how long it will take to sign on from the new stick and what the format will be, but for the time being, WIGL will continue to still be on with the simulcast of WGFG Bad Dog 105.1.
 
As far as I know the last site they were using was Sandy Run up on the other side of St Mathews. When they moved from St Mathews to Sandy Run we lost their signal in this area as it was moved closer to Columbia, now that they are back on the air we can hear them here in Elloree/Santee again
