Is there any reason to believe that the fate of this station will be any different than the former clear channel planet radio 1035. It is the same 20 old songs over and over and over. For the folks who will come back and say look at the strong numbers, my response will be planet radio started out strong as well but how long do they expect people to just sit and listen to the same old songs over and over again before they get bored and move on. At least with Love 94, the music was so strange you never knew when they repeated the songs.

Clear Channel is committed to the format. It almost seems like they do not care about how particular stations perform in particular markets. So long as the station is following the formula of the nationwide format, costs are kept down. The only way I see 'MIA flipping is if the "Movin'" format begins disappearing nationwide. But with "Movin'" formats in many big markets (such as San Francisco, St. Louis, and others) and a brand new "Movin'" station in Fort Myers, I do not see Clear Channel dumping 'MIA's format anytime soon.

It is too bad, since the format has real potential. If the station could emulate the Power 96 of the '80s and early '90s, complete with live mix shows, it would be amazing!

KTU in NY is the model for the Miami station, not the rhythmic oldies "Movin'" stations in the Midwest and West; neither are "national formats." KTU is typically top 5 in New York in 25-54, and a bit higher in 18-34 and 18-49. It's also the second or third in the market in cume.

In Miami, the format is typically between 5th and 10th in 25-54. THose are pretty good showings and quite salable.

It seems to be okay for 97.3 The Coast to play the SAME EXACT 20 songs everyday. They seem to get away with it. I find myself switching to MIA a lot when I'm not in the car listening to Sirius XM. How many times can we hear This Kiss, One More Try, No One, etc...every single day on the Coast. I mean Jason Mraz - I'm Yours -- HOW MANY TIMES!!!!!!!!! I emailed Gary Williams (Program Director) about this and of course, I didn't get a response.

The Coast gets points for personality, something 'MIA lacks. Most shifts on Coast are live and local. In additions, the '80s weekends, which are often phone intensive, are fun. If 'MIA had more jocks and more personality, I think more people would be positive about the station.

I agree...MIA needs to add some local talent to beef up its sound...A helpful suggestion would be to grab some of those old POWER 96 DJs from the past and really make it miami sounding...

Agreed. Local talent. Again though, you are dealing with Cheap Channel. The Coast's shows are pretty much live and local - good shot on getting Kimba for the afternoon drive.

93.9 needs to flip already and become rock or country CURRENT FORMAT SUCKS!

This is a top 10 station in 25-54. Why in the world would they want to change?

They can do whatever they want with the main channel just so long as they leave my HD2 alone!

This station has got to be a cash cow...Voicetracked talent mixed with 20 - 25 old songs...How can you not be profitable?

Country is pointless to do, since Kiss Country is already doing it, and it isn't a viable format in Miami. Would be much worse in the ratings. As for Sports, there are 3 sports stations in town fighting for a piece of a very small sports radio pie. The concept of 93.9 MIA is just fine. CC just needs to open up the playlist and make the station like how Power 96 was in the late 80's and early 90's, and it will be a hit in the ratings. A combination of CHR currents mixed with Rhythmic AC and Rhythmic CHR is how the original Power 96 was. It can be done again!!!!!.

Exactly! I see 103.5 changing formats (for the 100th time) before MIA does.
103.5 is a joke for a radio station. CC should resurrect SHE 103.5 once again. The station hasn't been the same since SHE 103.5 was flipped in 1995. Hasn't had any stability since that boneheaded flip. I surely don't see the beat lasting 25 years like SHE 103.5 did. (1970-95). A brand new SHE 103.5 could work if done right, since 93 Rock is a real sorry excuse for a rock station. 93 Rock sounds very weak like a cheaply assembled station. Their ratings are weak ,and with a rock station done right with perfect "in your face" type of imaging, personalities that fit the format, and a better playlist, it could knock out 93 Rock easily.
