93.9

Today KXOS FM Is doing a sign off from djs also there a sweeper in spanish saying thank you for over the years 939 radio Centro but it time to come to an end

Questions to ponder - of course, there could just be a new format coming to 93.9 and all else stays the same, but...

It might be interesting to see if there might be an announcement coming on co-owned 93.5 KDAY -
but only if there is a move from 93.5 to 93.9 (possibly with a simulcast for a while before completely moving).

Then what might become of the KDAY/KDEY 93.5 frequencies?
Different format? Sale by Meruelo to another radio group?

As seen in the other thread re: "KLOS Sold", link to press release:

https://www.allaccess.com/net-news/...deals-meruelo-media-closes-on-klos-kxos-los-a

The phrase that pays: Meruelo Media President (+ Interim Market Manager) Otto Padron: “Stand by, exciting news about KXOS coming soon!”

(Emmanuel “DJ E-MAN” Coquia will assume interim music and programming duties for KXOS.)
(KWHY-TV GM Irma Barrios adds similar duties at KXOS.)

If all else stays the same, what could be programmed on 93.9 that would
complement 93.5, 105.9 and 95.5 *and* fit into the greater L.A. radio landscape?

So what does everyone think of the new cali 93.9? They didnt waste anytime flipping it. I guess they decided against moving k-day assuming that this format has more potential. We shall see how well it does but i bet it does better then the movin format which use to be on there.

"...Latin Urban as CALI 93.9, #1 for Reggaeton and More. MERUELO is in the process of changing call letters from KXOS to KLLI."

To some extent, going after KXOL 96.3.

Note: links below will likely change when the call letter change to KLLI goes through.

SBS must be sweating! This is a direct shot at Mega 96.3.

The KLLI call letters were previously used by Live 105.3 in Dallas.

The station sounds almost identical to Mega. But Mega has Djs and Mixers. Best of luck to this new station. They should of made this station like revolution 93.5 Miami. LA really needs a EDM station.

To some extent? It is a total direct challenge to KXOL.

The music blend is better, less trap and and a more melodic blend of rhythmic music, obviously going for a good female audience appeal.

Revolution does not do anything in Miami. And if EDM would work, that is the one place in the US that it might.

The format is the perfect match for KPWR and KDAY, and the 25,000 song in a row with no commercials will attract lots of attention.

Can’t wait to see the reaction from KXOL.

I also suspect that KIIS, KAMP, and KRRL will take a hit since they’re going after some of their listeners, especially those are bilingual.

It will probably be a 1 share overall for KXOS
And mega 96.3

I'm predicting about a 2.8, give or take.

Mega down to a 2.2.

Also David E. 93.9 has a history of low ratings, when it was KZLA it barely got a 1 share overall. And with movin it didn't help much. For some unknown reason that signal hasn't been a great success.

Wishful thinking. We got to many FM stations sounding the same. An old KTU with Revolution format would work in LA.

We still host 4 insomniac events in the IE. I’m sure there is an audience for EDM in So Cal. :)

I remember Groove did make it in the ratings in the late 90s.

Not sure about that. KZLA was a pretty solid 2 share station for a while. Their problem was attracting local advertisers.
