93 Jamz Aircheck?

I think everybody in Tampa Bay was listening that day... but none of us had tape rolling on it! Hopefully someone will prove me wrong.

Tape does exist, a few different people have teased it in the past. They're probably just holding out for money or something. :p Give it time.

Let's get a fund started! ;D

On a related note, does anybody have the playlist that 93 Jamz used for that hour? I seem to remember Pump Up the Volume by M.A.R.R.S., and Jungle Love by Morris Day and the Time....

I have a few cassette recordings here & there of "Power 93" mixshows, but not "93 Jamz". I sort of grew up listening to that station all the way from Southwest Florida (Fort Myers). I was in my teens in the early 90's & heard some great music I never heard again... ...until I found them on CD, cassette, or vinyl & played them when I'M on the radio. It's amazing how much I remember songs that I heard just once way back when. :D

Too bad I just got declined for that open position, but they're still a fairly good station with their "Rewind" mixes.

Remember when they were playing Oldies as "Z93"? So cheesy, but it was fun to listen!

The only song I remember hearing for sure was "Pump Up The Volume." From my recollection, that hour of "93 Jamz" really was not that exciting. It was just songs and sweepers. I don't remember any jocks or any of the vicious "Power Pig" type sweepers that were to come later on. Then again, it has been almost 20 years so maybe my memory has faded on that a bit!

count me in as someone else who wants the elusive aircheck. I just wonder in what way did "93 Jamz" differ from what eventually went on the air as I recall the "Power Pig" being a very Urban-intensive station no less? I think the first weeks of the Pig though (early Fall '89) were more Rock leaning.

I think it's more a matter of time, and it will show up....There are alot of airchecks I thought would never be out there and they have shown up recently.

"Power Pig" was never really rock-leaning. I would say it was rhythmic with a few rock songs thrown in. Eventually after the first few months, the rock records faded away. But everything they played was a mainstream hit as opposed to the "93 Jamz" stunt which probably was pure urban since most of what they played was unfamiliar to me at the time.

I remember that the hour 93 Jamz was around, it was an Urban station (sounding like 102 Jamz in Orlando), then when it finally flipped over to Power 93, it was more Top 40/dance, with lot's of dance remixes of songs (in fact the first song I heard on Power 93 - not the actual switch - was a dance mix of Fine Young Cannibals "She Drives Me Crazy"), but it the first couple of months I do remember hearing "Love in the Elevator" by Aerosmith and "Kickstart my Heart" by Motley Crue. It did seem like they play "Forever Your Girl" by Paula Abdul about once every half hour! ;D

I remember they did an MC Hammer "U Can't Touch This" marathon one day.
