93 Rock

Im from Texas and was recently in Miami, and happened to hear 93 Rock for a while driving. All of the VO's and station IDs sound almost identical to KISS in San Antonio, like the same guy saying them and almost the same slogans. Is this the case? Playlist was more or less the same too, which is good because KISS is probably the best rock station ive heard anywhere in the country. Both are Cox stations if im not mistaken, jw if anyone knew how alike they really were.

They are clones, in my opinion. Nontheless, they are good clones. The PD for 93 Rock came from KISS in San Antonio.

Yeah i just noticed how similar the websites are....but i was listening to 93 rock online and it sounds like some of the vo's are different than when i heard them, like its a different guy doing them. plus they say the "new" 93 rock. but yeah, its definatly the closest thing to kiss ive come across. to bad Houston cant get a KISS clone, its home to 2 of the worst rock stations in the country.

Didn't Houston lose their rock station and listeners actually took up a petition to bring it back?

Well...KLOL was swiched to spanish, and the few listeners it had left petitioned to have it back. But the reason it was changed in the first place is because the station was out of date and not enough people listened. It is very repetitive and plays the same few new songs over and over, and the rest of the playlist is overplayed old songs. The new reincarnation, KIOL, is a rimshot that ,even with a slightly improved signal lately, still does not come in well at all west of the houston city limit. The alternative station, KTBZ, is the same old boring clear channel crap, more or less a top 40 alternative station with overplayed greenday, offspring, chili peppers, nirvana, etc mixed in.

Yes indeed. Kevin Vargas is the Skipper @ 93 ROCK.
Kevin comes from COX/KISS San Antonio. You couldn't ask for a more qualified,focused PD . I wish 93 ROCK the best . Start up stations ae tough but I'm sure Kevin knows what he's doing .
