930/98.1 stunting?

A moment ago, I heard an ID for a DM2 customized radio in Switzerland or something to that effect. The music is all over the place. I heard a country song, then a duet by Julio Iglesias and Dolly Parton, then a song that sounds like something Enya would sing, then a foreign language song, and now the remix of December 1963. The FM sounds very distorted, but the AM is fine.

I don't know if it's a pirate overpowering the translator, but it could be.
That's what I'm thinking. Someone in the area with a low power transmitter hooked up to a web stream of a Swiss radio station -- maybe testing in preparation of more coherent pirate programming or maybe just some slacker looking to get noticed.

I heard an IP address on the station. The RDS says "Black Information Network", so it's likely a broadcast signal intrusion (like the Max Headroom attack)

But why would a BIN affiliate be playing Dolly Parton, an Enya soundalike and "foreign music"?

It sounds like the Barix box used to distribute audio to the transmitter got reset and is running the default audio server. They just need to reset the device.

Lance's thought was my thought too - either a default audio stream or the station left the default password and a "hacker" reprogrammed the audio server.

Had the pleasure of meeting Farmer Jim not long before he had to retire from WSLI due to health issues. Lots of Jackson radio voices no longer with us.
