930Q & 95.7 Worst Stations In Houston

Where I work they listen to to these 2 stations

930Q after every song the dj gets on the mic & says we only play 8 commericals a hr & gives the station id if they do this after every song they really only play 35 to 40 min of music a hr hearing this all they time is really annoying I hate country music really bad.

95.7 migh be the worst station in town there heavy rotation has 4 to 6 songs & medium rotation has 8 to 12 songs in a normal work day I will hear the heavy rotation songs about 8 to 12 times each. I have never heard any station before play heavy rotation songs this many times in a day plus the songs they play are not the best that could be in rotation.

No offense. But perhaps this is why you're not a PD.

Actually, you should hate Cox. They seem to instill this mantra on virtually all of its music stations. "50 minutes of music every hour..." "We only stop the music twice an hour for commercials..." Rinse, lather, repeat...

These are the only two Houston stations I can get in Plano, TX. 93Q is of little interest because it is country, but it is dependable at about 270 miles out. 95.7 is a bit harder to get, but I like their mix of music - all of my favorites in quick rotation, not a lot of clunkers, I can listen, hear what I like, not hear what I don't like, then when I tune out, I've heard a lot of good songs. Kids my daughter knows love to stream it (rather than put up with fades on my deep fringe setup) because the local top-40 is a train wreck of a format.

When 97.1 went on the air with Legends; they had a long playlist. Then, one day, it boiled down to a representative sampling of old country standards. It's terrible. Used to hear lots of my favorites. Now, I hear the same old crap every day. I think it's laziness on the part of an MD myself.

Not that this is a big deal but generally speaking the categories you mentioned will have 5 or 7 (powers) or 9, 11 or 13 (sub-powers). Having an odd number of songs in a category short on titles helps to insure that songs don't play at the same time everyday.

K~

93Q is weak, but 95.7 is a great Hot Hits Station. They do play the same crap every 70 minuts but they do it right to the format. I do not like the music but like the formatics.

I think the worst station in Houston by far is 96.5. They have nothing for me. They sound vt and they are. The music is too close to Sunny and has way too much clutter. There is no thought into this station.

I am sure once sold I wont understand a word of what they say. It really doesnt matter too me now!

Everyone knows that there are only 200 selections available on the old jukebox, no matter what format you're listening to - that's why all of us are leaving for Ipods and satellite radio. Will the last listener to terrestrial radio please turn off the transmitter?

The same is easily said for the Arrow. Boring......ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Kinda funny really, I haven't listened to country music for 30 years and was really surprised how many songs Legends played that I liked and had fond memories of hearing in my childhood. Its my new guilty pleasure. I could do without the Eagles on there though!
