937Krock vs 1025dve?

Whats the difference between them and they both are active rock stations

937krock is mainly new stuff and dve is the other way around.

I like 937krock better why it has music that 1059thex and dve plays so thats why.

Here's what K-Rock has provided

WDVE had gotten stale in my opinion. I am, by now, officially sick of The Clarks being played more than AC/DC.

I realize they want to keep a local flavor. Okay- then when was the last time you heard, say, Gruschecky on there? Or G-Force? Or the Science Fiction Idols?

All of whom I would argue are more lively acts than The Clarks, Buzz Poets, and other local bands that we're sick of.

The other thing about K-Rock is that they started playing music that I had grown up with and mixed with the new it made me feel more contemporary.

For instance, I used to hate it that WDVE and WRRK basically ignored all the bands of my high school years save for Guns n Roses- and even then it always seemed it was "Sweet Child of Mine."

Like it or not, and I do like it, Ratt, Poison, and Cinderella are classic rock. People put down hair bands (not that I mind. I put down grunge), but Bon Jovi and Motley Crue have made great revivals and it seems things that are 80s are being fondly recognized by us thirtysomethings who are beginning to be able to buy things.

K-Rock and many other classic rock stations in other markets recognized this, while WDVE and WRRK refused to believe there was an audience for this kind of music.

And to be honest with you I feel pop music has become so urbanized that there is a "younger" audience for hair bands. I have seen it a lot at recent concerts I've attended.

Forget Stern- heck I'm an Imus guy. But I get a sense the blend of music is more catered to my tastes on K-Rock than WDVE.

I'm surprised you didn't comment on this that I posted in another thread:

But what I find really interesting is in the current issue of Rolling Stone.

http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/9257498/teens_save_classic_rock

This quote says a lot: "Teen listenership at New York's Q104.3, the nation's largest classic-rock station, has jumped twenty percent since fall 2002. 'It really started in the past five years,' says Q104.3 DJ Maria Milito. 'You get these boys calling to request Hendrix whose voices haven't changed yet.'"

Re: Here's what K-Rock has provided

Well-stated. I find the music mix on K-Rock to be a refreshing change from 102.5-96.9-The.X. Additionally, the formatics are well-done and the jocks seem to have the freedom to be themselves and connect with the audience. Just the fact that they *seem to* have this freedom speaks volumes for the image the station conveys, and it's an image that is consistent throughout all dayparts. IMHO, it's not a bad station, with or without Howard. Which is probably why it will tank ;).

Re: Here's what K-Rock has provided

I am in Pittsburgh 2-3 days a week

I think K-rock is an alright station

DLR is the downfall
Not funny Not local Not intresting

I really like Alan Cox on 105.9

Scott Paulson at night is great too

Why didnt K-Rock try to get one of them over to 93.7 before picking up Roth?

They had no choice.

Corporate said "you get Diamond Dave" and so it was.

Paulsen's contract at DVE probably has a least a year's non-compete anyway, and he does that night show on cruise control.

Actually someone like Rover from Cleveland might have worked.
______________

The other thing-

I haven't heard Roth so I'm not going to comment.

What I will say is that I have heard Alan Cox, and when he makes public appearances he's booed.

K-Rock actually tries to put out a positive image. That might be why you wouldn't want to put on Cox.

That's probably just a side effect of having to be the guy who followed Howard on the X. Roth would get it even worse.

I like alan cox too. He talks to alby oxenrighter(sp)?

But before 937krock was ever on radio i listened to 1059thex still do. DVE just does not appeal to me why those stupid ass comedy cuts they have on there It sucks thats why i like 937krock better cause its alittle like DVE and 1059thex combined.

Do u think that 1059thex and 1025dve should combine the two stations?
______________
