93Q...The Olden Days

I ended up giving Uncle Ricky at www.reelradio.com a copy of that aircheck of Bob Brown from July 1984. So, if you're interested, keep checkin' the site...

What was the full line-up during the summer of '84?? Here's what I know:

Mornings: Rob Cunningham/Ted Long
Middays:
Afternoons: Bob Brown
Nights: Steve Stiles (he's on one of the airchecks I have. Was he filling in or full-time? Where is he now?)

Can anybody else fill in the blank?

Dave Laird Mid-days. Kenny Dees overnights. Gary Dunes, Jim Sheilds and Tony Fallico Weekends. Oh and there was one more sunday evening part-timer who was kind of odd, oh yeah Brian Ocean.
______________

So, Steve Stiles was the full-time night jock? Where is he/who is he now?

I remember listening to Kenny Dees & The 93Q Club Beat when I'd visit Da Cuse on weekends with the family. I met him once at the State Fair and he said he was going to "say my name on the radio" (waaaay before "shout-outs").

He never did. :(

But he did play a slammin 12" remix of Levert's "Cassanova" on the way back to Brasher Falls!

Man, those old farts don't have squat on me! I was the heart and soul of the PM when I worked at that revolving door of ownership! This new kid they have on at nights is awful, shoulda went to college kid!

Idunno rag, the new bunch sounds tight as far as im concerned. I do agree with the revolving door because i should have been the one with your job after 14 years of dedicated work. All water under the bridge now because i have a real job now and im assuming Steve Stiles does as well.
P.S. I think i was the only White guy to ever host the "Club beat" LOL
______________

Yes, the 93Q Club Beat was awesome! I remember I used to listen to it all the time. It was something new and different and they used to play a lot of things that you just never heard on the Syracuse airwaves. I give 93Q a lot of credit back then for putting on a show like that. I wish they would have the guts to do something like that again, but they probably never will.

I remember I was devastated when I visited family in November of '88 and the 93Q Club Beat was gone!!! I tuned in at 6pm and heard "Born To Be My Baby" by Bon Jovi.

I was pissed...

I have some tapes of the Club Beat from '84, '85, '86 and '87. One day I'll transfer them and offer them for trade if anybody's interested.

Well first they had moved the Club Beat to 10:00pm to 4:00am Saturday/Sunday morning. Eventually it was replaced with Club 93. Did you ever hear Club 93? It was a dance mixshow which didn't last very long. They used to broadcast live from local clubs around the area. All they did was repeat the same mixes over and over! I think it was hosted by DJ Dollar Bill.

Hmmmm...I think by that time my Syracuse visits had become preoccupied with Z-89.
In the early 90's, Z-89 was a pretty cool station. Even my Uncle (a classic rock guy) preferred Z-89 to 93Q. Why?

'Cuz Z89 played "The Humpty Dance" and Q didn't!

LOL! I know -- Z89 used to play a lot of stuff that Q would never touch. It's funny because Z89 was doing the same thing back then as Hot is doing today. Now Hot is the one playing all the things 93Q won't play.
