94-1 KTFM leaning Rhythmic Top 40?

Heard this afternoon-

Rihanna w/Jay Z- Umbrella
Kylie Minogue- Can't Get U Outta My Head
Puffy Daddy- I'll Be Missing You
Black Eye Peas- My Humps
Justin Timberlake- Sexyback
Madison Avenue- Don't Call Me Baby

My new favorite station!!! ;D

Sorry my friend but Kylie Minogue B.E.P. and Madison Ave does not make them have a rhythmic lean. That selection sounds more like a bad playlist on someones ipod.

You might not like the music but your also not in their target demos.

You also have a bias opinion since you work for Univision.

Posted by: oldjohnny- So what format is KTFM now? They have changed a lot of things since I last listened. I know it is not old school anymore.

IMO, the format is similar to Jammin 105.9 in Austin or KTU in New York.

KTFM is sounding better, but still not as good as Jammin 105.9, KTFM now needs is a decent morning show.

How do you know? How do you know I am not some old lady with a horrible taste in music? Point being, assumptions are the worst mistake a person can make.

Hey Big Boyee "Hook me up" .........................................Like the drunken Tejano says, "yus pullin yur leigh vato!" Hahaha, Hey Big Boyee, You are actually one of the few DJ's I enjoy listening too. Everyone seems to be really strict on the air, but you are something else once 7 PM hits. Too bad I can't listen everyday, I'm limited by KHTC here in Bryan TX.

Back to the topic on KTFM, I haven't been to San Antonio in a while, but last I checked in, they let their morning show go. Anyone know where they are at nowdays?
Also, I know Jack is one of the bright spots in San Anto, but wouldn't it seem more obvious to just return the legend KTFM to 102.7 and gain back loyal fans of the old KTFM. Seems to me that they would be able to probably give a good fight to KBBT since we all know KPWT is pretty much a "no show" and they could give Univision a scary run. Putting Jack @ 94.1 also wouldn't be a bad idea since they wouldn't be on such a bad signal. Just my 2 cents.

seems like they play a majority of 80s-00s rhythmic, but at night time (when there are no club shows) it's mostly 70s-80s. Plus I keep hearing stuff like New Order and Depeche Mode on KTFM....what???

I do give them props for bringing back some of those early 90s stuff

...could do without that "I'm with the DJ" song, I hate that song.

Okay maybe I come off as pessimistic here but I dont mean to. Think of me more as being realistic. Where were those "loyal Fans" when KBBT came in and raped KTFM hands down? Look I was a fan too but we gotta think more 2008 people. KTFM is gone. BMP is still trying to hang onto the idea that KTFM can somehow bring back those incredible numbers that it used to for all those years. That will never happen again. I have two friends who are ex jocks and they both have very different opinions about that station. One says that was when radio was radio. The other says KTFM was never really good. It was just all San Antonio had to listen to for so long. That is the only reason it was popular. What do you guys think?

In my opinion I have no problem with KTFM. I just wish they would get it together and figure out a format they want.

If BMP keeps rolling the format wheel on 94.1, they are doomed for disaster, They are far away from the Jammin 94.1 they started with and now they decide to add LL Cool J with Donna Summer?????, give me a break, this station is a mess, stick with something, or start all over again (but not like the last couple of times).
The idea of moving KTFM back to 102.7 and going head to head with the beat does seem irrational, but I think with a small twist to the music library, they could do damage to KBBT. I just know KBBT has weaknesses and a good station with solid music could do the job.

Gracias hombre, I'll give U a "CHOWt OUT"!!!!

MY 2 cents on KTFM.

I remember when I was In the big bad ASS E.P.T. worshipping KTFM. And when I got the afternoon drive slot before it flipped, I said to myself "I MADE IT!!! DA BIGG TIME" Then the company screwed the station, the staff and the RADIO listener(enuff of the venom). But to bring back the OLD KTFM would be a curse. Those calls spell D-E-A-T-H.

"oldjohnny" Thanks for the love and take it easy, cheezy or sleazy.... :)

Univision and Clear Channel would hate to see the return of 102.7 KTFM. IMO, I don't believe BMP Radio has what it takes to do it right. Someone gave an example of LL Cool J being played right before Donna Summers. While their both good artist, they don't belong next to each other. The main problem with 94-1 KTFM is that they have the wrong PD and an unexperience assisting PD. Currently KTFM has a lot of good music being played however; there's also music that doesn't belong such as Quincy Jones, Cheryl Lynn and Heatwave to name a few.

you make some good points. in my opinion, they need to step into the year 2008. drop the logo that looks like a mirror image of the old ktfm, quit playing the tired freestyle and other caca that the old ktfm used to earsore this city with and just move in a completely new direction. they have a good signal, they could do lots with that alone. i mean how many times can someone play debbie deb or that godawful im with the dj song?

if bmp handed me ktfm and said have at it and do whatever you like i think i would go after kiss. that is not my favorite kind of music but i think some direct competition would bring more versatility to san antonio. we have two hip hop stations, 2 1/2 (sorry outlaw) country stations, why not two rock stations? we all know two pop stations doesnt work in sa. just my 2 cents. i know it might seem like i am bashng ktfm but i am not. i actually want bmp to do it right but we all know how the "do it right" phrase works when it comes to radio. everyone wants it done but you would probably have better odds hooking up with eva longoria in a bathroom stall at midnight rodeo than have a station "do it right."

We've seen too many stations go against KISS and they're no where to be found today so that would be a mistake. Personally, I think KTFM is heading in the right direction but it's needs to be tweak up a bit. Another thing to remember is that KTFM is targeting the females in their 30's and 40's which that was the time Freestyle ruled the airwaves in S.A.

once again this brings up the topic of "doing it right"

KTFM needs to go back to it's Jammin 94.1 format, and only play the 70s, 80s, and the 90s. They did good when they first started in 2005 on 94.1 but their playlist was small. I am talking about all the CHR they played during those 3 decades.

Face it KONO was once a CHR station way back then.

Leave the 60s and early to mid 70s music to KONO and the rest to KTFM.

On another note in the 70s, and 80s KITY 92.9 was CHR/Top 40, and now they are in Austin on 102.7 and 102.9 in Burnet as an Oldies format. Old call letters should match their format. My 2 cents.

On another note, KISS now has a rival, again 97.7 rock. I am hoping Univision or whoever now owns KLTO decides to hire the 96 rock and former k-rock jocks and rename the station from KLTO to KSAQ and bring some nostalgia back to SA Town.

Flip 102.7 Jack-Fm to KSJL 102.7 Hits and Oldies.

A perfect format
KTFM 94.1 70s, 80s, and 90s music everything that was played then rap, rock, alternative, freestyle, r&b, dance (make it the oldies for the Generation Xers)
KSAQ 97.7 Rock (keep it active rock) play a lot of today's rock no more early 90s stuff like red hot chili peppers under the bridge, REM, other stuff kiss plays too damn much)
KSJL 102.7 same stuff that was on 96.1 in the 90s without the mix show) <--- BMP here is an oppurtunity to revive a station.
