94.1 THE BEAT - SAVANNAH

I've watch this station go down the drain!!! Everything is now Premium Choice except for middays. How long before Cumuls E93 becomes the only Hip-Hop station once again? I smell a flip!

Clear Channel will soon do this to all of their stations...they laid off a whole staff here in JAX except for their premium choice jocks. heck one of them are on two stations here in the market using the same name. most people dont know the difference like we know..they just listen to the music. they dont even bother to give out the request line numbers anymore.

The only CC stations that seemed to be unaffected in the urban division were the flagship (KMEL) and WWPR, and WGCI. It seems like they have brought in enough funds for them to be left live and local 24/7 for now (although KMEL is jockless after 10PM until 6AM and has been for 6 years)...

I believe CC's HOT 105.7 in Montgomery is all local weekdays except for Harvey in AM drive. I've never listened to Premium Choice. I can imagine how bland it sounds with no mentons of local events, severe weather or request lines by the jocks.

Hot 105.7 in Montgomery and 98.3 the Beat in Columbus (GA) are the very few exceptions to this rule with CC on smaller markets, but it might be due to the fact that both are consistently in the top 5 of their respective market overall 6+ diaries.

I can't imagine some of what you mention is missed all that much, given how quick-fingered people are for commercials and liners. Specifically, I don't miss the THIS SATURDAY NIGHT AT CLUB PLATINUM GOLD LOUNGE 69, D-J SUCH & SUCH ON THE ONES AND TWOS!promos.

And not hearing severe weather notices is likely an EAS no-no--I doubt that's happening very often.

Honestly, a radio request line in 2012 has just as much relevance as those weather forecast hotlines TV stations had in the 80s and 90s.

I know i used to work for Cumulus and what what folks dont understand that it was killed when automation came in the picture. Whatever PDs programmed thats what you got. you can call in and do a shout out but no requests.

Well, WJLB has seen its locality peeled back, and the Detroit is now in the top 15.

Sad, it wasn't that long ago when WJLB was number 1 year after year. Quite a few 90s JLB airchecks up on my site, wish I had some from the 80s, there are a few very short ones on the web, primarily mix shows.

Yeah, they essentially jockless after 10PM until 6AM. Also they don't seem to have anybody hardly on the weekends either locally.

After WDIA had a ratings collapse they added DJs back to weekdays - Stormy, Bev Johnson - afternoons What's on your mind line as well as a new evening Backtracks show. They are up again so perhaps there may be hope for some of the heritage stations.
