The New KTFM is not going for HERITAGE. The just want to be a NEW CHR with a rhythmic lean. If they garnish old KTFM listeners fine. They are going for all the new people migrating to SA. They want the kids that are too young to know about the real KTFM. They want to sound like a San Antonio CHR.
They are just launching a new CHR-period.
I like the music, the voice guy is average, and the jocks-well...I won't comment either way. Nothing but love for anyone who still holds down a gig in these days of decline.
MIX has been a better than average corporate CHR- but to be honest they have not yet hit their stride at being a
San Antonio station.
Those who went up against Mix thus far were just worse at "Getting It" or were not directly opposing Mix only touching on Mix's music.
Z106-7 looked good on paper but was off on the music and never never never did the HIGH PROFILE personality or stationality required to win, then again the big boss at Cox didn't expect them to do well. Just be a flanker.
They sounded like they never intended to win. That is the truth. Sorry to all involved.
The last time Cox went for #1 was KISS. KONO also. Both of those worked and still are working. Magic is sitting on it's laurels. It hits a pocket of listeners every 3rd book and that seems to keep Cox happy.
Up to me...Kiss would keep on cranking and Kono would do it's thing, and I would blow up Magic (Heritage) (HA).
No one cares about them. Their music is tepid at best, burned out at worst. Jocks need to tear up the liner cards and start putting listeners back on the air. Pick a target, cater to it, and Keep it fresh.
Try adding currents every other week at least. Some adults like you to break a song. Research Ruins this place.
The worst problem with magic seems to be they are lathergic-cuz KISS and KONO are what COX cares about in SA.
Why doesn't Cox sell off all the stations they think don't have a chance and let some fresh blood do something creative around here?
In a sense this is how the corporate stations buy out the market. They just hold on to these properties and under utilize them.
A primary reason why the Financial wizards of Wall Street are saying that "Radio people like to think they are important, but radio is dead"...
No new product, no new ideas, just slash the budget some more. Slash Slash Slash-
At a time when RADIO has more competition than ever-they are doing the LEAST to get an audience.
They are Slashing themselves and radio to DEATH.
I hope I haven't angered anyone, but if anyone thinks I am just talking out of my ass...just turn on the radio.
Now that is talking out of your ass.
