So is that station ever going to change? It just seems so dull

No. What sounds dull to you sounds like tons-o-money to them.

Besides, QKX has turned in three straight HUGE Arbitron books literally DOUBLING the share of the #2 station. Why in the HELL would you want to screw with one of the most DOMINANT radio stations (relative to its own market) in the entire nation?

An objective observer would say they must be doing something extremely right.

no question they are THE station in the area. I guess I'm still stuck in the Tom Morgan era of Kx..I thought their imaging was a lot better then. I wasn't implying they should flip I just think that within the tri county area of Northumberland, Lycoming, Snyder...we have 3 stations ALL playing the same format...I just would like to see a station be a little edgy and do something different. I'm tired of strictly family oriented radio stations in the coal region

I'm guessing that you're talking about WKSB & WFYY in addition to WQKX. Kiss doesn't care about that market--it's one of the two guns in Williamsport. FYY? What's their scoop? I've always guessed that they did all their business in Bloomsburg & Berwick--and maybe a few bucks from suburban W-B, and didn't care what happened past Danville. But if the Sunbury & S/W-B books are any indication, they should be the best candidates to be doing some changing...

I would definitely agree with that..FYY , I think was alot better when it was Mix 106. Maybe I was just a young buck but I thought it just sounded better than now. yeah they could use a format flip or something maybe a flip would be too drastic....I would like to see a station that does an 70's 80-'s 90's dedicated....like Mix 106.7 does in Harrisburg...I mean if you listen to any of these stations up here it is quite possible to hear the same song at the same time on all three....and that sucks because it doesn't give us much of an option.excpet for maybe EAGLE 107.

But yes FYY always just seemed like a work in progress since it dropped the Mix 106 and was Flyght for a while and now Project Y or whatever....I listen to them and I swear I can smell the Muenster cheese oozing out my speakers

Surprised FYY isn't a powerhouse station considering it's range. It peters out going into Scranton, but it's strong in Tobyhanna/Mt Pocono then drops out heading into Scotrun. Went from Lewisburg to Pittston (90 minute drive) and didn't miss a beat.

Why should the number 1 station change? Yeah, I'd get tired too of crushing the local competition book after book after book.

KX is a heritage these days. People are going to tune in no matter who (or what) is on the air. However, changes are for number 2...not the top dog.

As for family friendly, WELCOME to the coal region. Know your listener: the area IS conservative, IS family oriented, and ISN'T young.

KX fits hand in glove with the region. That's why it works...and would probably take a natural disaster to change that.

Variety 977/997 is a true CHR and certainly has more of an edge than wqkx. From what I've seen, it seems to be working. After 2 years on at 99.7 they have higher cume numbers than wqkx in many demos in 3 out of the 4 Sunbury/Lewisburg/Selinsgrove market counties! When you add those counties to how Variety does in Lycoming and Clinton Counties at the 97.7 frequency, they are reaching alot of people!
