94.3/97.3 The Wolf (Chuckie Strikes Again)

Is there anybody on Pendell Road that is allowed to make a decision without the input of Benfer himself or his cast of stooges? 97.3 goes over to the Wolf. And on their website they refer to everything as 94.3 The Wolf 97.3??? Are you kidding me? 'Join 94.3 The WOLF 97.3's Beth Christy for Casino Bowling'

And what about poor Mix 97?

Miller sounds like he's loaded...the guy can't carry a morning show by himself. Give him somebody to talk to besides the voices in his head! They've got Suzy saying the best Myoooosic Mix'. She sounds like a cow at pasture! She doesn't talk like that! That's the rationale of Cumulus Stooges thinking if they emphasise the Music people will understand it better. Just play good music and it won't matter how she says music. The Stooges can't even update their website anymore. Hello, the American Heart Walk was over 3 weeks ago.

Hey Benfer...there's more to Pendell Road than WPDH.

Ha Nothing like having an under performing (loser format) on Two H/V signals 94.3 - 97.3 !They should call it Thunder Country next, i bet ya that would help bring in the numbers.

Miller was really sick this past week, and please don't
say bad things about people that worked for you.

Let's set the record straight. Miller never worked for me. In fact, not only do I not work at Pendell Road (in the past or present), I have never worked on Hudson Valley radio at all. So instead of hinting that I'm Turner, just say it. I am not Randy Turner. I know the guy and I know some of the other people Cumulus has recently put the screws to. My apologies to Bob Miller. I did not know he was sick. I just remember a time when he sounded really good when he was paired up with the right person. Working alone is a mistake for him. I refuse to apologise for anything said about Benfer. I know him as well working through other community activities and I stand by the things I've said about him.

It's Too Laughable

The Cumulus Comedy Show just keeps on rolling.

It isn't the boys in Atlanta that are mucking up. It's Benfer and his butt buddies. They have not made one single good move in four years. Cumulus doesn't care because they are just sapping the ad money out of the Hudson Valley and depositing it in the bank down on Peachtree Blvd. about 1,000 miles south of Pendell Road.

In the meantime, although Pendell folks openly try to spin things here (Tig, Miller and Turner have been doing it for years), it really doesn't matter whether anti-Cumulus people have worked at Pendell Road or not. The people who are trapped on the inside are the ones paying the biggest price as the Benfer reign of Terror continues its assault on decent radio.

Oh MY! There has been a Good Move!

I just saw the good news about Rain Man! Did he get fired? Is he working at McDonald's or Burger King?

Chuckie ... you lost your biggest pucker-upperer. Your ample buttocks are next. The only problem is that you don't have what it akes to work at Mickey Dee's, BK or even Walmart.

Get ready Chuckie? Remember your oldies playlist? "They're coming to take you away, ha-ha, ... " and then the Hudson Valley can get on with the recovery.

Re: Oh MY! There has been a Good Move!

Actually, Chickie's biggest pucker-upper is still there running WRRV.

Re: It's Too Laughable

Its ridiculous what's going on with the stations right now. WKXP should have NEVER EXISTED, but that's forgivable. "Kicks 94.3" should have ended a year ago. But when they decided a name change to "94.3 The Wolf" might help, thats where it got even worse. They should have ended the format back then. Now they stole Mix's simulcast, and they aren't even promoting it, just like the rest of the station. On the air they do say 94.3/97.3 The Wolf, but the web site logos are still 94.3 The Wolf. The website is never really updated. On the Pendell Rd site, there hasn't even been a link to it since it changed from Kicks. They might as well just shut off this station and let it sit there with nothing on it.

What do you think should be done with 94.3, 97.3, and 97.7 FM? Obviously the wolf has to die. Mix was kind of on the downfall but was doing better than Wolf. Whats your opinion?

I honestly don't know what they should do with it, but then again, I'm not a PD. I think someone over at Cumulus needs to get creative and do something, anything different with it. The whole oldies --> country move was the biggest mistake ever. The station would be doing better now if they had just left oldies on it. But they have a knack for flipping that station every few years. Rhythm 94.3 to Cool 94.3 to Kicks 94.3/Wolf. I remember when it was B94 on there. Those were the days.

Touche

Yes, Boris has bussed a few of the lower cheeks in his lifetime. And there shall be more ...

But he will also outlive Benfer.

By the way, I heard Miller this morning for the first time in about two years. I didn't think Bobbie could get any worse. I guess I was wrong. He must have taken a cut in pay to keep his job.

I also checked out "The Wolf" and couldn't believe my ears. Beth Christy must look great in a cowboy shirt. "Brandy" sounds an awful lot like Randy's little pet around the station from the Oldies 97 days ...any coincidence with the the "Brandy" thing? (Randy plus a "B" ?????)

This is better than most scripts for a sitcom.

Pendell Road WebSites

Turner did all the websites for Wolf and Mix. Last check on Monday, the servers were not pushing out the pages. If you go to the Cumulus site, there is no reference to any local sites in the Pendell Road Cluster F***.

My Bet

Cumulus has two market strategies, both of which are "low-rent" approaches to keeping the costs down and yanking revenues out of the market. One is bringing in a "national" signal (more crap like John Tesh) or dual transmissions (the "old" Mix or current WPDH). Turner didn't lose his job because Mix sucks. He lost it because he couldn't slow down 100.7 and 104.7 (this was out of Turner's league).

My guess is that "The Wolf" dies in a matter of weeks if not days, flipping to a different format (maybe even a Cumulus version of "Jack" or something to take on 104.7 -- not to win the ratings wars but to hijack some listeners). Look for 97.7 to pick up the Y-105 signal.

Ultimate goal: to put WPDH and WRKI at #1 in all their markets, then to sustain it. Cumulus will never be into good radio, but they will try to grab #1 positions by using less valuable properties to take listeners away from the competition. That's how you survive with an idiot of a GM who drives competent talent out the door.

Re: My Bet

A top 40 format would be kind of nice. An alternative to K104, yet not all rhythmic like Kiss. Again, it wouldn't do good in the ratings. But nothing new there. It would be kind of like the old B94 days.

PS- there is now a link to the website from the pendell rd site. it shows a new logo that includes 94.3 and 97.3. don't see why they'd bother if they were flipping anytime soon. the site doesn't have the new logo though. New 30th anniversary PDH logo as well.

Joe Limardi

With R&R showing Limardi (formerly at Y-105 in Danbury) as the new PD at Mix, my guess is you are probably right about a Top 40 format and I am right about the Y-105 simulcast into PoTown. I still think that the 94.3/97.3 transmitters will go to the newer format. 97.7 has a little overlap with Y-105 but it provides a large, contiguous service area that makes it the better choice for the Y-105 signal.
Edited by XMradioRULES on 03/24/06 03:24 AM.

I remember B94 and Rhythm 94.3. During the last several years Rhythm 94.3 was a great station playing jammin' oldies. It was a great station. Why not bring the format back or maybe a MOViN type format will work like they did in Seattle.
