94.3 PeopleWillRadio.org - Austin

Picked up this radio station on 94.3 in Austin when I went there a bit ago. When I tuned in it played heavy metal / underground rock sounding stuff. I heard the DJ say it was called PeopleWillRadio.org. That site is live, and seems to be the website for this station.

Audio is a bit overdriven but the station does cover south of downtown at least. I came up there from the south and as we were driving back to SA I was able to pick it up at an impressive distance, much better than 91.1, maybe as good as 90.1!
How long has it been up?

I heard it on a visit to Austin last December. Strong signal in the parking lot of Barton Creek Mall. Audio a bit overdriven then as well. Couldn't figure out the name then; the announcer didn't enunciate clearly.

Station still lives, and I found it's stream. http://kpwr.org:8000/

Last time I was up in Austin a couple weeks ago I tuned into 94.3 and heard it broadcasting. The station still sounded overdriven, in fact the stream sounds the same way. If they'd fix their audio levels I'd listen more.

Hahahaha I remember hearing this station and liking it. The FM isn't broadcasting anymore but the website's still up.

It seems that 94.3 was taken over by two LPFM stations in Austin though since these posts from several years back. However PeopleWillRadio might still be making infrequent returns online.

It's a shame that it shut down TBH. https://www.reddit.com/r/Austin/comments/30qopu/943_radio_station_downtown/
All I can say is hopefully the new LPFMs on 94.3, KBPH and KCDR are decent in what they play.
If the audio is overdriven it probably was set up by an ameteur who's doing the best they could when setting it up.
