94.3 vs 97.5 in Columbia

Anyone been paying attention to 94.3? For the most part, they are traditional country, but they do play a slew of current hits as well. Do you see this as a compliment or competition for COS? IMO, it's more of a compliment due to 94.3's gold lean and classic country show from 12-1pm. They remind me a lot of WESC 92.5 in GSP. And with Nascar Sprint Cup racing, they have their own niche. I know a lot of ppl won't agree, but I think Good Morning Columbia sounds great on this station.

Anyway, I do not count 93.9 as a country contender for Cola/Lex due to their inferior signal. Cat is voicetracked and mostly syndicated anyway (Like COS). Also, that beach music show doesn't fit. On 93.1, beach music sounds fine, but not on Cat.

I think the adjustments and re-focusing that they've done with 94.3 have made them much more competitive. They sound more professional and yet more personal. I don't think they'll beat WCOS but I think they are now in a position to carve out a niche for themselves and may do better than a "niche" station.
