94.5 Cartersville

Today my car radio was picking up 94.5. The station identifies itself as "The New 94.5 FM," and "Cartersville has a new station....what format will it be?" And then they spin the wheel of genres - country, rock, pop, A/C, etc.

The signal is quite clear from Marietta to Roswell.

It's funny cause I always associate the frequency 94.5 with WMUU outta Greenville, S.C.

There is no mention of it on http://radio-locator.com.

If there is no mention of it there....and no mention of it anywhere else (I have checked) it might be a pirate.

Ya Know Bro! (don't you love my new line?)

I heard this weeks before Christmas. Sounds too good to be a pirate.

IIRC Radio Webs also owns WEBS 1030 CALHOUN too. I guess they are going to try to take some money from Cartersville. I hope 1270, and 1450 survive someone selling FM.

I listened a little this AM. Why are they still stunting? I assume they have a format already picked out. Why not "hit the ground running". Any excitement they generate is being lost. What ever format / audience they are going to be targeting will soon get tried of waiting. This is not a flip where you try to "run off" the old listeners. You can assemble an air-staff in a month (shorter if voice tracked). Any engineering required testing / interrupting programming can be done 2 till 4AM. The traffic down I 75 starts at 6AM so you can figure morning drive starts at 5 or 5:30 AM.

What are the call letters? The RecNet link isn't working for me.

I'm guessing it's going to be hard to impossible to pick this new station up in Gwinnett. WMUU has a good signal that you can pick up well on good DXing days.

Great for a little retro action from when the ATL FM band was dominated by Beautiful Music.

The announcement on the radio keeps on mentioning Cartersville.

Something freaky is definitely going on.
Not freaky, smart.
I see the "Cartersville" angle. They going to be the only Commercial FM signal targeting Bartow County (Pop. 100K ) that is not from Rome or Atlanta metro. Gordon County (Calhoun) has only 52K. Most of the "local" buyers can not spend big bucks for coverage that is of no use for them with Atlanta and except for South 107 the Rome stations do not cover Cartersville that well:

Finally became a country music station on Thursday. They are billing themselves as "Kickin" 94.5. Does northwest Georgia need another country station? They get 107.1 out of Rome and US101 out of Chattanooga pretty strongly. Looks like they are playing older country music also.

I can get US101 in Gwinnett when the DXing is good. Strong signal.

Didn't CC once have a country station up that way at about 99MHz? Or is that the current GPB station at 98.9?
