94.5 Flip:

I talked with some people connected at "Que Pasa" yesterday. They are really concerned. Even the announcers (California) joked about the amount of calls generated by North Carolina and Virginia. I hear a spot yesterday from a car dealer in VA at La Preciosa. Never heard a VA spot before. Also they are increasing the amount of local Winston Salem, Greenboro, Burlington spots. Also I hear a female voice yesterday morning giving the local traffic and weather. I am not sure who she is and if she is local "local".

It only makes sense that a Spanish FM in this market would explode in popularity. I've been saying that for ages now. It's about time. Let's just hope CC doesn't screw it up.<P ID="signature">______________

It's been 6 weeks and the station is kicking some major butt, both in listeners and sales. Just wait until the numbers are available. Whoa...hang on!

>>Also I hear a female voice yesterday morning giving the local traffic and weather. I am not sure who she is and >>if she is local "local".The traffic reports are "local," in the sense that the streets are IN the Triad. But, they are not produced in G'boro.

Most any ratings for the Spanish FM in this market will come from NEW CUME since most of the small AM Spanish stations don't have enough in-tab to get listed in the book. Audience switching from them to the FM and people finally turning on the radio - will increase market cume, no doubt. It is not likely the station will imact the cumer of most mainstream stations. Might have some impact on market share, but not cume. It will be interesting, no doubt.I know you can't quote actual ratings here, but has anyone looked at McBride's ratings from the Winter book? Cume number is the key!

mcbride

I'm jonsing for some mcbride chaos...I am in ashville and cant pick up the station...I wish they would stream. I went to their website and it looks like "who did it and ran fast". Horrilbe.

SJS website, which used to be pretty good, is now done by the CBS web folks. Follows the same template as all other CBS stations. I can only imagine what will happen to it when the station is sold. Noone on staff today knows much about it.

As for McBride - still flopping around on the dock. BAM has talent, but is way more suited for AM Drive. Would make a good replacement for when Glenn Scott retires! She knows pop culture and has a sense of humor - but has a real hard time with serious subjects! Latest big feature is Furry Friday - pet adoptions from the humaine society!

As for streaming, they were on the list, but with the pending sale, I doubt it will happen anytime soon.

I noticed WMFR's site now uses the same template. They never used to keep their old site up-to-date. Now it looks decent, but it still doesn't have much of anything useful on it.

For a brief period, WMFR.com and WSJS.com used the same news content - done locally. Sites looked different, but news and sports content was the same.

Can't wait to see the new look once they are no longer CBS! If they're smart, they'll try to get the original deal they had with RDG.
