This is an awesome playlist. I'm guessing you were already way out of the top 40 demos by then...given the username... My dad also thought it was lame.

What a limp playlist. No wonder CHRs were dropping like flies in the early 90s.

Further to my point, the top five radio stations in Boston according to Arbitron in winter 1991 (when this playlist is from):

WRKO 7.0
WZOU 6.9
WXKS-FM 6.7
WBZ 6.5
WEEI 5.9

The only two music stations in the top five were top 40s..................................

Looking back 19 years at any station will be mostly awful music. Only the classics are remembered as hits. This was a great time period as a 'Zou listener. The Morning Zoo; Steve Rivers, Ron Engelman, Scott McKenzie, Bill Rossi (News), Andrea Phillips, Human Numan, Karen Blake, Marc Clarke, Artie the One Man Party......

Steve Rivers had actually already moved onto Kiss 108. Steve Perun was the PD at WZOU by this time. And sorry, I can't help myself, but it's "Marc with a 'C' Clark with no 'E'" ;)

WOW, you just took me back!! I remember ALL of these! How many of these do you hear on the radio today? I think I can count them on one hand...

"The good old days" indeed. Retro, where are you? ;)

7/3 Oleta Adams "Get Here"

^ Does anyone remember the "custom mixes" that stations used to play of this song during the Gulf War? (Military personnel sending greetings to their loved ones back home)... I recall a bunch of stations here in Boston, and around the country doing this...

I know up until a few years ago, this song was still on Magic 106.7's playlist (complete with one of those infamous crappy "Magic Custom Edits")... don't know if the still play it today, however.

...just had another glance at that list, and I don't think anything from #15 and above are ever played on the radio in Boston anymore.

I believe the INXS record is played once in awhile on The Leftover Lunch on FNX.

The LL Cool J and C&C Music Factory records can be heard on occasion in the mix on Jamn's "Back In The Day Buffet At Noon" ... and "Where Does My Heart Beat Now" might still be played on Magic 106.7 today (another unfortunate victim of the crappy "Magic Custom Edit")... but that's about it for the list, I think...

A20/-- Chris Isaak "Wicked Game"

^ Missed that one... I believe "Wicked Game" can still be heard on The River, Mix 104.1 and Magic. 8)

Yes, it still turns up on Leftover Lunch. And yes, I've heard these on the Back in the Day Buffets...

I give this playlist a B+ grade

their Top 30 Throwdown at Tower Records on Saturday afternoons with Kid Valentine, then Marc with a C, Clark with no E took over for a few weeks before they switched to Jamn 94.5.

I bet a lot of these songs turn up on Mike 93.7 - George Michael, Madonna, Mariah Carey, INXS, Vanilla Ice, C&C, Sting

Leftover Lunch has in the past played INXS, Enigma, Urban Dance Squad, Sting

Did you check the playground? ;D

ABC would be a little too intense for the Playground on WERS; I think they usually just stick with songs from kids movie soundtracks and TV theme songs.

I would never have been caught dead listening to
any ONE of the songs mentioned on this list...
not then, not now. Good old days? Uhhh.... NOT!
eeeeewwwwww...

I don't think they were targeting old, uptight radio general managers.
