94.7 Goes Country...Will Thunder Be Affected

Cat Country 107.3 already has a lot of listeners in Ocean County and even 92.5 XTU gets a small showing in the Ocean County ratings break-downs. Now that they have some competition in Monmouth it should get interesting.

Why can't we get a real alternative rock station in new new jersey

I think 90.5 The Night does a fine job filling the rock alternative format hole. Not to mention their HD-2 channel is also Alternative.

Well, to be fair, neither station does the kind of Alternative that G-Rock did.

/just gonna leave that comment out there...

Wasn't G Rock on 98.5 Fm out of Manahawkin? That format on that station has changed about 4 or 5 times in the last ten years..

Thunder will not be affected unless they can accumulate a superior playlist (that's hard since Thunder has a good playlist), bring in the best LOCAL jocks money can buy and spend a ton in give-aways and promotion.

Thunder is well established and people that listen to country have a certain loyalty not found in CHR, Rock & AC stations.

Thunder's signal will be stronger at the Jersey shore, so I don't think they will lose many listeners there. People in those areas will likely listen to both stations. Thunder might lose some listeners on the fringe areas further north towards New Brunswick/Edison where the 94.7 signal will be stronger.
