Seems to me Audacy should have left country alone. What they replaced it with isn't setting the world on fire. Now they are starting from scratch . I know it's only been a few months but it isn't showing much promise.
New York needed a station like this. They are taking listeners away from Hot 97, KTU, Power, BLS, and Z. It's wise of them. They only have CBS FM, the Fan, and New 102.7 performing well. They won't be setting records in ratings, but they are protecting CBS FM and New 102.7 if you think about it. Country doesn't really fit with NYC. There wasn't a Country station in NYC before that putting a decent signal there since Y107 in 2002 and in the market itself since WYNY signed off in 1996. Country doesn't sell well in this area.Seems to me Audacy should have left country alone. What they replaced it with isn't setting the world on fire. Now they are starting from scratch . You probably don’t mean your comment to be insulting, but to those that put in tireless hours to hone our craft, what you’re saying is a slap in the face. Yeah, we’re not all perfect and going to be the next Seacrest or Dees. But even the good majority of voicetrackers actually care about what they do, and yet have to balance out what corporate wants with their audience wants as well. But see this is why i like when stations go djless.
...
Djs are just so annoying.
When I hear live and local jocks on a small market FM, then hear syndicated and voicetracked jocks on a NYC station, something isn’t right.Have you seen the ratings of this station? There's no money to hire anyone.

They couldn't leave it alone. They were making absolutely no money. Country does not sell in NYC not to mention it cumed low and was never a ratings winner.Seems to me Audacy should have left country alone. What they replaced it with isn't setting the world on fire. My estimate, based on weeks 1 to 3 of January, it will be 4th in 18-49 (the general Black and Hispanic station target) behind WHTZ, WSKQ and WNYC. And, probably, the same in 25-54 too. This may come as a shock but one of the top morning shows in NYC is Steve Harvey on WBLS, who is based in Atlanta.
The station went from Family Station's religious format in 2013, so it has not been a decade. And the buyer then was Cumulus. In 2019, Entercom bought it from Cumulus, and they fairly rapidly realized that the format had no sales future in the NYC metro. Why did Audacy stick with country for a decade?
Of course it will. It has a niche format, appropriate for a less-than-full-market signal.you think the block will stay behind WKTU, Power 105.1 and Hot 97
Maybe in middays, where chatter will take a backseat to music, he will do OK. I am skeptical, however.

Remember when Nash FM played Ed Sheeran lol 🤣The station went from Family Station's religious format in 2013, so it has not been a decade. And the buyer then was Cumulus. In 2019, Entercom bought it from Cumulus, and they fairly rapidly realized that the format had no sales future in the NYC metro.
Remember, Cumulus had it's strange idea that "Nash" was a national format and could be centralized for everything. NYC, being a crossover country market at best, needed a different approach... we can see that in the way folks like Ed Salamon did WHN "back in the day" to adapt to the market.

Why ? i have 50 stations on my siriusxm presets alot dont have djs but some unfortunately do.If DJs are so bothersome to you, go get a Spotify or Apple Music account.
Because all you seemingly advocate for anymore is a jockless jukebox. And there are plenty of options for it; not every single terrestrial station should be one.Why ? i have 50 stations on my siriusxm presets alot dont have djs but some unfortunately do.
You ever hear how many mistakes the mtv vjs make on the big 40 80s countdown.
Theres even a site that tracks them all cause theres so many.
That entire group sure isnt putting in tireless hrs on those shows.
