94.7 THE BUZZ

They play some crappy Alternative Music at THE BUZZ, LOL!

At least its a active rock station, Alternative sucks.

I just looked at the playlist. Typical cookie cutter active rock. Lots of garbage music from Disturbed, Nickelback, Slipknot, Three Days Grace etc. I like to call this type of music butt rock. Pretty bad stuff...but what do you expect from corporate rock radio!!

CC has 4 stations with the frequency 94.7, one in Wilmington, Delaware, Ft. Pierce, Florida, Indianapolis, Indiana and The Buzz in OKC. The Brew is a CC format with stations in Omaha, NE 96.1, Portland, OR 105.9 and Columbus, MO 105.7. It is a rock format. So not really a different format and not necessarily for OKC.

Much like how genxtulsa.com pointed to kooltulsa.com, 947thebrew.com pointed to The Buzz's website until they switched it to point to a Google search. So, it's a pretty good bet they're making these changes in OKC.

As for whether or not it's a different format, I haven't listened to The Buzz in so long I couldn't tell you. However, The Brew is 80's oriented classic rock.

First five:

AC/DC - “You Shook Me All Night Long”
Rush - “Tom Sawyer”
Don Henley - “The Boys Of Summer”'
38 Special - “Caught Up In You”
The Tubes - “She’s A Beauty”

Basically, everything KATT, KRXO, BOB and JACK play.

rounding out the first 10:

Aerosmith - "Walk This Way"
Def Leppard - "Animal"
ELO - "Don't Bring Me Down"
J. Geils Band - "Centerfold"
Bon Jovi - "Shot Through The Heart"

I'm making a prediction here that this thing will steal away a great majority of KRXO's "younger" demo. Unfortunatly for Renda, this means KRXO just turned into effectively an oldies station. Check mate.

True dat on Renda; KOMA needs to relinquish The Eagles, The Stones, etc., to KRXO, and go more Pop/Disco. Kent, you know all those songs on Casey Kasem Sunday mornings that you don't play? Add those songs! Beefing up the Disco/R&B would erode KRMP as well. There are quite a few titles from 80-81-82 which would mix well too, to go along with the Huey Lewis/Billy Joel/Stray Cats they're already doing. And hopefully The Brew will spell the death knell for Jack; if Tyler'd let go of the bird and program locally, they could do the GenX thing and get out of the 1s.

And from looking at BDS, I'm going to have to replace The Spy with The Brew on my car radio; I'm fed up with listening to Ferris' iPod Shuffle. I did hear two songs in a row yesterday on The Spy that I was actually familiar with, for once! Man, Ferris is so blowing it with that opportunity, just to get his groovies. He could go so much more mainstream alternative and get normal people rather than the fringers, while not going so far right that he'd dilute the Spy brand. I guarantee you, the (few) people he's catering to now would still be thrilled with a mainstream alternative, compared to what's available in the market now. And I'm very disappointed with how severely he's sucking up to The Flaming Lips, while giving little love to Starlight Mints.

The sad thing is 105.3 and 97.3 need to be married up as the same station. Both of them and a translator sort of tower-farmish would equal a challenged rimshot station. Seperated they are nothing. I agree that Jack is doomed. With 94.7 coming on the air now it's game over for them.
