94.7 Updates

Come on country music! NYC has deserved it for YEARS!!

With EDM/dance being so hot right now, to me that'd make more money. There are certainly alot more cross over dance hits on CHR than country. NOW, Z and KTU are filled with EDM songs in rotation. In fact at times you could think you were listening to a dance station. I always thought NOW might lean that way. I suppose the new dance station out of Boston will show if it's a viable format nowadays but then again who would have thought Boston a dance town?

I think it was a 1.3 and that was towards the end of the Pulse 87 run.

And as far as Boston being a dance town? They have been for QUITE AWHILE now. While we had 'KTU (when it was '92), they had Kiss 108 and the legendary "Sunny Joe" White there. It makes sense when you consider all of the colleges they have around the area and a vibrant local crowd.

Boston IS a dance town :)
 
I listened to the stunt, which apparently lasts a little over an hour, then repeats.
Most of the "formats" that have been aired are apparently intentionally ridiculous or not likely to be aired on a major radio station, such as all Michael Jackson, Beatles, Weird Al Jankovic, all polka, smooth jazz, and traditional jazz.
But they did play a few reasonably contemporary country, urban a/c and top 40 tunes. So I believe CHR, urban a/c and country were the only commercially viable formats represented. CHR seems to be an unlikely choice, as it would compete quite directly with 'PLJ.
Am I reading too much into this? Is urban a/c a sensible possibility, along with country?
 
Saw a post regarding the Wheel of Formats playing on 94.7. While unable to hear the stream in Cincinnati, It sounds nearly identlcal to the one used to launch its "Journey" format here and in Pensacola and Atlanta which is CHR GOLD essentially Adult Hits, the end result here was an eventual flip to Country six months later. The "Journey" format has not done well in those other markets but without an adult hits format in NYC may fare better there. I still believe the end result will be Country especially with the "NashFM" DNS sites directing to 94.7NashFM.com.
 
Let's not worry about the RXP calls. It's been a ruse. (insert slow trombone here)

The REAL question is how the long the next thread will be in 3 months when everyone says its too poppy or twangy or ratings aren't high enough and try to start the "When will 94.7 flip formats" ;D :D ;D

WNSH-FM. Cumulus parked them in Minnesota.
