94.7 Updates

Actually, it's probably the main studio waiver that's the hold up. 106.3 will relay KEAR and originate no programming.

It's official: 94.7 will become Gangnam Radio 94.7, The Biggest Hits in K-Pop!
Check for a press release tomorrow!
Alternate universe:

"94.7, Book Radio" starting with a reading of "Martian Chronicles". The ratings will be outta this world.

Book Radio would only work if everything was narrated by Morgan Freeman. ;D

Any news on when 94.7 will flip? What format? Any indication that they are leaning towards one format over another?

No one knows... At least anyone who is going to say anything on a radio forum.. We'll have to wait and see once the transfer is complete from Family Radio and the format can change.

Country, Rock, Alternative, Polkas, Dance, Hip Hop, Another CHR, Christian Rock, Spanish Gospel, Asian Pop, heck who knows at this point :)

Lance from radioinsight says that Family Radio will return to Philly on 950 on the day that is rumored to be "the end of the world", December 21 at 6 pm. Could it be here too? I don't think so, but it may happen either the day of the rumored end of the world, after tomorrow ???, highly unlikely, the day of or after Christmas or the first or second day of 2013. When do everyone else think? I hope it's anything except CBS sports network because there is just too much sports in NYC including tv too.

The world is supposed to end on Friday, so I would think December 22 would be the best day to transfer WFME to Cumulus.

While most of the articles about the sale of WFME to Cumulus state that it should close by the end of the month, that seems unlikely to me. There are still several FCC approvals that need to take place for both WFME and WDVY, the station that will be transferred to Family Radio.
In fact a request was filed with the FCC to change WDVY's status to noncommercial, only about a week ago. My guess is that unless there will be an LMA of both stations, there will not be any programming changes till late January, at the earliest.

So just as a station in Philly goes from sports to Family Radio, the reverse might happen in New York... or will it? ???

Why no news ?

The. Sale. Hasn't. Been. Approved. Yet.

Yes but that's not a complete answer either. Cumulus could very well just LMA the station like 101.9. Obviously there's more moving parts to this than the obvious.

For the 101.9 situation, Cumulus would have to pay for the privilege of using the frequency.

Think of it as buying a house. Until you sign the papers, you have no right to the property. Unless you can rent the place, you will not have the keys.

Usually, when we hear about a sale, everything is just about done. With 94.7, I think we heard about it right away because most of us already figured Cumulus was going to get it anyway, so there was no secret.

There's nothing in the published documents that contemplates a LMA of 94.7 to Cumulus.
Part of the compensation to Family for 94.7 is Cumulus handing over 106.3 in Mount Kisco, NY. The matters of converting 106.3 to non-comm status and getting a waiver of the main studio rule are still pending, and I'm sure Family Radio wants to maintain some presence in the NY area, even if it's only on the Mt. Kisco station.
In any case, I'm sure Cumulus wants to get its hands on 94.7 as soon as possible.
