94.7 Updates

Found: one portable direction-switching FM cassette recorder, with iPod headphones as an antenna (gotta include a nod to the present day) and one inconsequential cassette. We've got 90 minutes of coverage...

How do you put online a stream from your hd radio????????? HD is off as of 5:23.

Put the file online. There are loads of sites where you can dump your file. After uploading, it gives you the URL where people can download it. You can place this URL here.

Today marks a big day in the history of the New York City metropolitan radio market.

I hope someone caught the aircheck of the WFME Family Radio sign-off and subsequent WFME WPLJ simulcast sign-on. A rather abrupt, unannounced, and unceremonious end for a format that existed for 46 years, 10 months, and 1½ days, or, 17,109½ days.

Interesting situation going on with the 94.7FM transmitter consistently cutting out. Definitely not a problem with the STL link to 2 Penn Plaza. Could we be hearing the onset of catastrophic transmitter failure? :'( That question should be left to the technical experts around here.

As for WDVY Mount Kisco, Family Stations is presently continuing Cumulus's WDBY Danbury simulcast.

Aren't they waiting on the FCC Authority?

Could all this bad signal/ WPLJ on /off be the engineers working on the STL for the new station?

I'm sure they are working on more than just the STL. Probably just the whole audio chain from microphone to antenna.

Gave a combined legal ID for both 95.5 and 94.7 at the top of the hour (6:00 PM).

"WPLJ and HD1 New York, and WFME and HD1 Newark"

Barry Weiss on the cross-town board is reporting that WFME will resurface "before long", but with respect to which station, he is "not a liberty to divulge it" This means Family Stations is likely in the process of closing on another radio station.

So the speculation recommences about which AM is the most likely to be acquired by Family Stations Inc., as represented by Media Venture Partners...

So far the audio on 94.7 is pretty bad and then you tune over to 95.5 which is so full and rich. I suppose they need time to get things setup. 95.5 however still does not compare to audio 101.9 had.

Very interesting that PLJ is playing allot of Alternative rock songs.

PLJ hasn't touched a song they don't normally do. Nothing to see there.

I have an idea this is going to go on through the weekend. It's more interesting they're still hanging on to the WFME calls at the TOH and not RXP despite the RDS saying so. You would think if the WRXP calls are a parked ruse (probably) they'd just run with it at this point.

Now would be a good time for Jeffrey on our board to update his signature...

They haven't settled down, yet. His sig may soon, again, be justified.

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!

I guess this simulcasting is very temporarily. This change came so quickly that they can't have the automation, jingles and soundprocessing for the new format ready in time.

I like alternative but rarely hear it on WPLJ. Could be coincidence but to me it seems I am hearing more of them than usual for a bit but it seems to have dropped off now.

For example,

Lumineers - Ho Hey
Fun - Some Nights
Fun - We Are Young f/Janelle Monae
Alex Clare - Too Close
Coldplay - Viva La Vida

Oddly they have also repeated Ed Sheerhan's, The A-Team twice in the last two hours. Except for Coldplay all of these are 2012 to current Alternative charts in the summer and fall. Could have been just your typical Hot-AC playing some cross overs.
