94.7

How is Greg Brown sounding in the afternoons? I have not listened to 94.7 since JRL's contract was not renewed. Since I work in South Bend, IN, I'm lucky enough to be able to hear oldies on 94.3 out of South Bend.

You can listen to Greg Brown and the entire station online via the station's web site. But other than giving the weather forecast, Greg's focus is totally the music. It's getting to be like Casey Kasim, with the "next we'll hear from a singer who recorded his biggest hit in the back of a Chevy....." kind of stuff.

That is further proof that Landecker doing bits and fun things that were not tied to the True Oldies format didn't fly with management.

I guess the ratings well tell the story, but once again today I'm listening to an internet oldies channel.

"Informative" oldies radio. Wow.... neato. I bet folks are running out to buy brand new stereo systems just so they can listen to this dude at this Chicago radio station do trivia pursuit. The fact is if you're not entertaining then you're not going to fly with your potential audience. You can talk about the artist and where they wrote their tunes or how many children Madonna adopted overseas since her last number one hit all you want, but if you have the personality of a dead worm no one is gonna want to hear you.

Radio is too "formatted" these days because it has lost the ability to connect with its audience and be interesting and entertaining. I guess I'd read from The Billboard Book of Top 40 hits too if I wasn't capable of doing anything else behind the MIC.
