Remember when I was looking for a Full staff, alot of you thought it was Styles Media, I can tell you now, it's going to be COUNTRY and they are moving 94.9 to Houma to compete with KCIL, not much of a competition to be honest, KCIL has been down for years and with a power decrease by Guaranty it will be easy.

I'm out of the mix now so I can speak freely about it... but get ready COUNTRY BOYZ!

Yep you got me.. I knew it a country in Houma, but thought Citadel might have wanted to do a back door to the ratings bonanza that is WNOE by flipping 100.3 to country when they bought it....

Guaranty also noticed their screwup and I think have a CP for 70kw again (as they are at a disadvantage being 15 miles sw of Houma)

So 94.9 will be closer to Thibodaux than Houma (around Gray?)

Cool Info thanks!

Don't believe everything you read. 94.9 to Houma???
94.9 to Country???

If that's the case then why did Dowdy meet with the staff
this week and tell them not to worry and nothing was changing.
Now before you all jump on me for that statement, remember
this is Dowdy we are talking about, not C.C., Citadel, or
some of the other corporate investors the FCC allows to hold
radio station licenses. Dowdy is known for being honest and
upfront. Not the sort of guy that would scam his new staff.

Also why move it to Houma? If he moves it closer to N.O.
it's worth about 8 million. Closer to Houma and it's worth
one million...Maybe !

Geez, I'm Dowdy.... what would I do?....Hmmmmm
8 million or 1 million???....Hmmmmm

Of course I could move WOPR closer to New Orleans

What's that??? WTIX prevents that?? You're right!
And the state is taking the WOPR tower site which
means the only way I can move is North???

So instead or two rimshot New Orleans stations I'll
end up with two stations that don't hit the City at all???

That means I'll pay 4.5 million for two stations that
will be worth about 1.5 million!!!

Geez, I'm Dowdy.... what would I do?....Hmmmmm

If you believe they're moving to Houma please let
me know. I have some great home sites about 30 miles
west of Baton Rouge I want to sell you!

The name given was the one listed on the ad at all about country or claims to be it.... But Now I'll let it out... I asked about it being Styles Broadcasting (cause of the Styles name and the co. operated 94.9/94.7 before).. when it didn't pan, figure someone would go after the country market in NOLA..Citadel with new stations could do just that....

Not changing until Citadel wants it's format back or Not changing period? Also I take it no change on 94.9... But 94.7 goes silent soon (due to the state and his proposed cp)?

I've heard weird things before.. and stange moves... For example:
KCIL had a CP filed to move to Larose a while back but recended it... They went down to 28kw, found out they had coverage problems in Thibodaux and other main areas and now wants 70kw off their Theriot,La. tower

I don't know the paticulars... But a second country aimed at New Orleans would be more my vote...

Guaranty has the country market pretty much covered in Houma IMO
Guaranty was trying with the 100kw to reach into the New Orleans market and found out it wouldn't work (I think that is why the tower plans to Larose among others) But they basically gave it up and wanted to be a tri-parish station...

Also, Didn't they cut the power for movement of their 107.3 station in BR?

Can He aim it (in on air programming) for right now at Houma but Not actually "move" the station? then when he's ready file for application, move closer to NOLA?... Also isn't 94.3 and 94.9 still pretty close to being short spaced anyway?

Another weird way is 300 foot tower probably for lease or sale in Larose coming up soon ... It has been used as a rimshot antenna for New Orleans and serves Houma all right...

But please enlighten me WBWorld.....

Let me get this straight... the station is sold and in a meeting the staff is told "don't worry" and "nothing is changing". Yeah, right. The check is in your mouth and I won't c*m in your mailbox.

Of course if you had read ALL of what I posted, you would have
seen the following:

Now before you all jump on me for that statement, remember
this is Dowdy we are talking about, not C.C., Citadel, or
some of the other corporate investors the FCC allows to hold
radio station licenses. Dowdy is known for being honest and

My point being that Dowdy is not known for being dishonest
and is a pretty good operator. He's not the average scumbag
you might find at C.C. or some of the others. Could he be
lying to them? Anything is possible, but with Dowdy it's not
likely.

isn't 94.3 and 94.9 still pretty close to being short spaced
> anyway?

94.3 a Class C1 and 94.9 a Class C3 would need to
be minimum of 76km (47.22 miles). Right now they
are located 82.43km (52.22 miles) apart so legally
WPRF could be moved 5 miles closer to New Orleans.
A little creative engineering might get them an
additional 3 miles so he might get as much as 8
miles closer. That would put him in the area of the
WFNO towers in Norco which are 75.72km away from
WTIX. (I'm not suggesting he move to the WFNO site,
just giving you some reference point). From that
area he hits N.O. with his C3 nicely. The Coops
of Engineers might give him a pretty good lease
out there. The lease on WFNO is cheap. I know where
I would put it.

Ok I didn't know the seperation rule on it (Too lazy to look and don't know a good place to map it) That's why I wondered about KLRZ's towers (The one at the studios) but that is roughly 30 miles from WTIX-FM

And I see what you get about moving closer... But doesn't FNO have occasional flooding problems?

wayne dowdy is not your typical owner. he lets everyone know weeks in advance whats going on. even when he flipped k106 mccomb to a sat feed back in 92 he let the whole staff know a month in advance so we could find another job. <P ID="signature">______________
