94.9 is nothing different at all just the same old same old

I decided i would really listen i did for 2 days a few hours and aside from 1 song i had not heard in a while it is the same old same old stuff you here on these variety hit station.I did here good vibrations by marky mark but that was about it aside from that the top hits is all they play from the 70s 80s 90s the station really is not much to listen to. Give me kiss or Q102 or frequency 94.1 but no rewind yuk!!!

If you want to here a pretty good variety hits station listen to jack fm in los angeles.

And you want to know why you hear those "same old songs"?????

Because they are popular!!!!!!!!!

Duh!!!!

Just because they don't meet your particular music taste doesn't mean somebody doesn't like the songs.

The playlist is narrow and repetitive. Not like 92.9 at all. That is the format 94.9 should be aiming for.

Agreed...they should've just went the Fly route and made 94.9 an Adult Hits station. Fly 92.9 has a good playlist and at least isn't too repetitive at least for the standards of radio today.

Maybe someone can clue me in. Is the Fly just a poor excuse for an 80"s station or what? I don't have the patience to listen to them.

Is that why they've got a 3 share?

First: Why bash something you don't know anything about. What people don't know is this...

Entercom, while it is a tremendous company was covering for the loss of Alternative 97.3 with the invention of The Sound. There was no research done, notta! Saying that, it did well during its initial phase. Of course the format really doesn't have a strong base, and thats okay...it works for some companies.

Bonneville, had a major research company come to town in February after wondering how to save what was then a sinking ship. The Sound started to effect Q102 which is one of the two cash cows in the building. So they flipped formats to give country a stronger presence and prevent any attacks from the land of Cumulus.

The research study came back after Frequency was born and said, if you keep the path with the sound, this is where you will eventually be. Bonneville is not one to lose money, and once they do they look for solutions...like any good owner. The research came back and said Mix left a big gaping hole for a station that played 80's, 90's with some peppered 70's for flavoring and even a few 2000's.

This all began with 94.1 Frequency flipping out and not knowing which way is up my friends...not because of Bonneville.

So before you make an accusation next time, get it right!

Fly has a 3 share because they have only one jock on the air(Danielle, who does a fine job). Had they followed through on the rumored bringing in of Jeff Wicker for mornings, they might be doing better than that awful 3 share. Fly is basically a jukebox right now and it's hurting them.

Hey KY, what "accusation" are you talking about. I merely gave an opinion. Is that not permit because it doesn't agree with yours? Geez, give me a break and lighten up.

Sorry, but I suspect it's got more to do with not being able to play 50 years of music on the same station. Oldies fans hear a 60's song, then head for the exits when they hear All American Rejects.

At the office we switch radio stations from day to day. The other day we had on one of the "Top 40" A/C stations. Holy crap, they played the same songs EVERY hour. I'm sick of "Poker Face" by Lady GaGa.

Keep in mind this poster referred to him/herself as "favorite radio station in the world indie 1031 in Los Angeles." This would be someone who wouldn't know what most people like if his/her life depended on it. ;-)

Correct. And keep in mind, if you've ever been to Columbus, you get the same response of the hard-core listeners of WWCD-FM (CD 101). They continually get voted "Best Radio Station In Columbus" by the same handful of readers to Columbus Monthly magazine who stuff the ballot box each year. I remember one year in the 1990's, we stuffed the ballot box more on WCOL-FM. You should have heard the outcry from these people when "an oldies station" beat their fav...they couldn't handle it.
